Time to stock up on 22 lr ammo again.

considering my range membership costs me $160/year, if they had a 'buy a gun get half off' deal and the gun was $85, I'd be all over that too! :D

There's never a bad time to buy more .22LR. During the shortage, I almost forgot how much I enjoy shooting it.
The first case arrived today.

Gunny, any opinions on this compared to CCI standard velocity? My 10/22 seems to shoot tighter groups with standard velocity as compared to high velocity. I've looked through my stash and it looks like almost everything I have is HV, so I'm wanting to stock up on some SV.

I've been slowly stocking up anytime Brownells is having a sale. Between their sale price, free shipping and cash back deal on Activejunky, the prices / incentives are too good to pass up.

The case that arrived is High Velocity. I have case of Standard velocity that should arrive tomorrow.

I went to renew a range membership and they had a sale going on. Buy a gun and get half off the range fee. Saw one of these for $85.00 and bought one, thinking it would not be much of a gun. Man was I wrong. Later bought another. I like training with Pocket guns and these babies are great for that.

Definitely can't go wrong with a deal like that!

All of my .22s, both handguns and rifles do very well with CCI High Velocity MiniMags. Very reliable and very accurate. The only pistol I have that has a definite preference for CCI Standard Velocity is my SIG Trailside.

Would love to know what ammo they used at the factory when they shot this test target at 25 meters! I would be lucky to get that tight of a group at 25 feet!

I'm picking up a brick of something every trip to Academy. Mainly the Aguila standard velocity. If I had to guess I'd say I've got close to 50k rounds of .22 LR on hand right now. I'm also picking up .22 Mag and .17 WSM at the rate of a couple boxes each per week.

I suspect RWS. About 20 years ago I tried two boxes of Target Match. A warning it was the least accurate ammo I have shot through my rifle. It didn't shoot much better in my friends Kimber Govt Match or his Browning 52. As I said it was 20 years ago so it might be different now. I sure hope them Aguila .22s don't have as many duds per box as they used to back than. Can't remember which was worse Remington HV or Aguila.
The best ammo back then was Eley Tenex and Lapua brand.

Just picked up 5,000 rounds of the Aguila High Velocity from Outdoor limited for about 3 cent per round, plus shipping. Need to order more, but waiting for some free shipping deals...

I feel like a piker next y’all. I’ve only got about 6-7000 22 lr. During shortage got whatever was available and whenever it wa available. Living “behind the lines in Massachusetts” makes it almost impossible to get any thing shipped In unless it’s from CMP or Target Sports. My stash is a mish-mash, but my old Marlin 80 doesn’t care, just wants to be fed. The Ruger SR22 and Walter P22 both prefer Remington golden bucket rounds, but they will eat others as low no as they’re hv

Welcome to THR, Bruce D Pease. I'm not "behind the lines" like you are, but I kind of got caught flat-footed in 2008. Only had maybe 3-4k on hand when the 2008 election hit. The long and short of it was I had to buy as I could for several years, and have the same kind of mish-mash of a stash.

My .22s will eat pretty much anything I can fit in the magazines, and have done so reliably. My 10/22 seemed to shoot tighter groups with standard velocity than it had with high velocity, though. I've always been a plinker, but I want to fiddle with different loads and see if I can actually shoot a decent group once in a while.

I am usually going for low price on rimfire, but took the opportunity to order some Wolf match target at $0.12 per round at SGammo. I may order more swamp people mini-mags from PSA at $0.05 shipped, but will be interested in how the Armscor ammo performs.

Wherever I go I am always on the lookout for any .22 ammo that might be available as I can find a use for any type I find. I have literally dozens of .22 firearms to choose from to shoot. They are all different in that they each like a certain type of ammo. It has gotten so bad that I had to make a list of what it was with the SN and the type of ammo each likes best for accuracy. I do not recall that any of them will not actually function with any brand but in quite a few cases I will only be able to shoot a pattern rather than a group. Also some are jamomatics with certain ammo, Remington golden being the top problem. The bottom of that safe is filled with a wide assortment of ammo of various types and ages so trying to find an accurate match is usually easy when a new .22 finds it's way into my safe. I have a Ruger MK II bull barrel that likes the FED 525 bulk packs from WM the best that I use to shoot competitively with. I stocked up on these before the last shortage thank goodness (three bulk packs every payday for years) as the new ones do not seem to shoot as well to me. Take note-- batches of ammo are different shooting even if they are packaged the same. I am quite happy that it does not like the SK Pistol Match the best like a couple of my other ones do as THAT would seriously hurt my wallet! Interestingly I have peened the back side of the firing pin so wide that it will misfire 4 times shooting this pistol. The stock one and two different aftermarket ones, they all seem to last about the same length of time. Sorry for the ramble---get some more ammo soon as the political winds are swirling around enough to cause problems.:scrutiny:

What kind of failure rate are you guys seeing from the bricks of rimfire purchased in the last 6 months? The only thing I can find here is Winchester and at least 1 of every 5 rounds will not fire in any rimfire gun I own. It is complete junk. There is nothing wrong with any of these guns. The sad thing is none of these companies will even guarantee their rounds to fire. They may agree to send you another box of the same stuff - and it's junk too. It didn't used to be this bad. I used to shoot at least a brick every weekend for many years and never saw failure rates like this.

I will never get Remington Golden Bullet ammo ever again; some of the dirtiest, failure prone ammo I've ever shot, and it loved to fling crap back at you in my semi autos.
Same goes for ammo by CI, at least their .22LR 40gr copper plated stuff, in the black boxes. Failure rate with that ammo was 10% at least.
I've had "hard primer" problems with my boxes of Federal 750 (.36gr CPHP, in 550 boxes sold exclusively at WalMart), yet haven't had any issues at all with Federal 745 (same stuff, 525 count box, sold in all other retail.)

In my experience Remington has always been the worst American ammo manufacturer. I won't even try to reload their centerfire brass because it's so thin it will not hold a bullet or a primer and sets back on one chambering. I wish I could find someone here around selling Federal rimfire. EVERYBODY has Winchester - I never see Federal any more.

Don't feel bad about not having 30k rounds of .22, to me that's excessive, but I don't shoot 400 rounds every weekend.

And if you want more .22, take a trip to NH and the 0% sales tax and no FID/LTC BS and stock up.
