Watching a spy show where the main character is running a Chiappa Rhino Snub. IWB concealment is a main priority as is shooting through car doors and windshields. Shots appear to be between 5 - 30 yds, longer would be better. Gunfights are on the shortish side so one reload would probably be sufficient.

What's the best revolver for our spy ?

Foolishly I let a 3" RB S&W Model 13 get away. Since then I had settled on a 2.75" Ruger Speed-Six, but it is a bit clunky. I purchased a 3" Kimber K6S right after they came out, and I have never been happier.

Recently acquired an SP101 3 inch in 357. Appears to be a 1995 vintage. Once I get it run through some ammo tests and find out what works best it will become my EDC. Currently a Taurus M85 fills the roll but the SP101 is only slightly bigger and 357.......

As probably everyone here knows, I am a huge fan of the 3" K frames. They have so much going for them. Slightly longer sight radius. Balances perfect. With a round butt and not having a ejector rod shroud like the mod 13 and 65, they are just about as easy to conceal as a J frame. One HUGE reason the 3" gets my not over a 2 or 2.5" is the full length ejector rod. Empties are kicked completely out every time. Could make a big difference if you needed to reload in a hurry. Plus 3" K Frames aren't seen every day which adds to the cool factor for me. One gun that is overlooked a lot is the Model 64. Same gun as 65 but in 38 special. Since my carry ammo is .38 +P Golden Saber, I carry my mod 64 probably the most of any of my J frames. This is mainly because my 64 has one of the smoothest da triggers I've ever felt. The only gun in the last 5-6 years that has given my 3" K frames any competition is the Kimber KS6. I have a 2" and it has been nothing less than impressive. I hate hammerless guns. The trigger on the Kimber will basically let you shoot SA. It has the flat sided cylinders so it will conceal easily. I have not seen a 3" in person for sale, or I'd probably own one of them. I am waiting with baited breath on the new Kimber 3" DASA with a hammer. As soon as the distributors get some in, my LGS will order me one. It will be the first new gun I've owned in at least 40 years excluding a few collectable Smiths that are old, but NIB. At some point, I'll probably wind up owning one of the new King Cobras in 3" but I'll wait a years or so until the prices drop way down like they have on the Cobras. The Cobra never impressed me enough to go out and buy a new King Cobra.

You would be hard pressed to find a better concealable revolver than a k frame 3" 357 with fixed sights.

Have had my eyes open for a model 65 for years.

Pops carried a 66 3" for years. Excellently configured revolver

Concealable and general purpose don't really complement each other, especially in the wheelgun world. K frame is probably the best balance, but given the criteria of 007-type character who will be routinely involved in gunfights, my vote goes for the higher capacity and more manageable recoil offered by the 686+

I have a 4" Colt Python and can only imagine how nice a 3" would be. I've shot a bunch of K6S revolvers, have a 3" GP100 and 3" SP101 but have no experience with the others in the list. If I had to pick between the GP100 and SP101 it would be the latter. I CC a KLCR that's 19.7 oz loaded … hard to beat really. The 3" GP100 weighs in at 38.5 oz loaded and the SP101 at 29.9 oz loaded.

IMO, for normal, real-world CCW, the SP101 is rather heavy. I have a 3" SP101, and I'd rather carry my Charter Bulldog .44, which is roughly the same size and a bit lighter. But I prefer lightest, so the 11 oz 360 PD it is!

(In truth, I usually pocket carry a DB9)

The only 3" .357magnum I have currently is a 3" SP101. I really do prefer the looks of the newer S&W M60 and if overall size wasn't an issue, I'd opt for a 7-shot 3" 686. I guess it just boils down to me being a sucker for a S&W with a full lug barrel.

That said, the SP101 also great.

I have a couple of SP101's and can't shoot them worth a darn.

My 2" Model 10 is easy to shoot well. With a 3" barrel it would probably be even easier. :)

Not sure if it was best as very few were made, but I would want 4" MP-412. I'm sick and tired of swing-out or loading gate stuff.....boooooring.
