You can't gather up all of the 350 million or so firearms in this country, so what do you do? You starve them to death by not allowing them to be fed with ammo. From their viewpoint probably makes a lot of sense.
If you can add a tax so they can show it additionally makes money, it would definitely sound like a win to a lot of people. It's not out of the question.
I'm not saying you should dramatically increase your ammo or reloading purchases, but it never hurts to have a little extra regardless, it won't go stale. If you don't have at least a year's supply on hand, then you probably didn't learn anything from the last ammo shortage.
