Hello All,

I was in the LGS yesterday and I see what appears to be a used 586.

Taking a closer look it is a Mod 586 (no dash) with a pretty decent DA trigger. It wasn't cleaned the last time the guy shot it, but it doesn't appear to have been shot much.

Price was $375.

There is some (minor) rust spots and I shone a light on them and took pics (see below).

What does the hive think? Good deal? Pass?

Hmm.... plain jane stainless fixed sight k frame police turn ins in.38spl's for going for $400.

An L frame .357 w/adj. sights that you can examine for $375 with no shipping? In an instant!

Do a function check first hammer push off , trigger, etc , side plate screws look ok. Midway USA and others have videos for checking used revolvers. If ok I would offer $350.

I would buy it for $375. Rub the rust spots lightly with pre 1982 penny and watch them disappear.
Some of those spots are going to be hard to reach with a penny. I would go oiled 0000 steel wool, followed by chrome polish on a Dremel with a buffing wheel at low speed. Should turn out great either way! :D
