Should I buy this?

Yes, I would. It's not a great steal, but it's a good deal, paper-free.

Edit: careful though, many here will tell you that AR's reproduce much more easily than M1s.

I own a lot of AR’s, and build a handful each year without fail (or handful of handfuls), most often for others. A couple things I know: 1) AR’s which don’t have a purpose are seldom shot and quickly sold in disappointment. 2) A $350 Delton, like any mil-spec carbine, has a rather limited utility for the average civilian, and such is vulnerable to item 1 above more than most.

So for me - a $350 Delton doesn’t have a home in my safes.

Doc, I never bought one since I spend a lot of money as it is on on pistol ammo. I have a few rifles now, but if I were to buy one, I would get a single Shot Henry. That said, my son will be coming home from Army Ait in Nov. and if you decide to to not purchase, give me a shout. Since I do not live far from you I would bring the owner cash this weekend.
Thanks

I can see both sides; one- it’s cheap, the other-it’s cheap. I’ve been suckered into so many deals that added up to far more than what I really wanted so moving forward I’m considering purchases more than before (though probably not as much as I should).

If you have that amount ready to fund some sort of future proof AR purchase then consider buying 3 Anderson stripped lowers and parts kits. If the bug hits you at a later date, buy a nice lower, parts you want, and an upper that meets your needs in a caliber of your choosing.

In my case I wouldn't buy it. I don't buy a gun just because it's offered for a cheap price unless I see a use for it.

That said, it's your money, not mine, so spend it on what YOU want.

It probably depends on what you're wanting (how's that for an answer?). I once bought a DPMS 16" carbine for a good price at the time. I learned that there was just too much stuff on it that I wanted to upgrade and because of that I didn't really enjoy shooting it. I ended up selling it to supplement the cost of a Henry 357 and now I'm building an AR to my liking. If you want it just to have one, sure, but if you want to get some enjoyment out of it and you're anything like me then you might hold off until you find something you really want.
