Seems every time I add a new pistol to the fold I start wanting to make it a personal item. I start looking for custom grips usually first. Once that’s done I may change internals if I think it might improve performance. Carakoted one. Changed sights on a couple. Bought improved magazines. I just don’t like leaving them stock I guess. Anyone else have this disease?

I mess with everything pretty much as soon as i get it, and that included pistols and revolvers.
I just finished a P80 build, which is about the only way Im likely to own a "glock"
Its mostly aftermarket parts right from the get go, and I really enjoy it, i also enjoyed building it.

Well, my EDC is a Colt Combat Commander, Clark-style carry melted, bobtailed, new grips, bushing, tritium front sight, long trigger, and extractor. I guess I've changed it.

OTOH, I don't mess with S&W revolvers other than retiming worn actions, because you shouldn't mess with perfection.

My "customization" is mainly just with changing out grips. If I didn't like the gun's trigger, sights, or finish, I probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Have had a few guns refinished (typically hard chrome plated), polished up with Flitz or Mother's Mag Polish, and have done a bit of cold bluing with those that were cosmetically challenged. Other than that I keep them pretty much box stock.

Night sights and maybe some grips. Maybe some stippling on the Glocks, plastic guns, depending on the gun and texture.

Don't mess with the internals. Haven't come across anything in a long time that wasn't shootable as they come mechanically.

I made the Mag-well, and magazine extension. Nearly all the internal fire-control parts have been replaced with after market and that those have been tweaked and fitted as needed. The trigger now has minimal pre-travel, just enough to disengage the striker block, and no over-travel. Recoil assembly was replaced with a solid guide to add weight and to run 1911 recoil springs. Magazine release replaced with extended release. Most of the factory springs have been replaced. Lots of grip tape added.

Yep grips, trigger jobs ,spring kits. CZ get a lot more CGW kits or CZC stuff. 1911 trigger jobs grips sometimes. Hi Powers get rid Mag disconnects , spring upgrades. Always something to make them little better plus enjoy tinkering with them

I mostly use Glocks. Unless I am using it for competition, night sights is all they usually require. I am getting a Kimber 1911 cerakoted because it has gotten so scratched up.

As a general rule, no. On a practical level putting rubber grips on magnum revolvers and attacking Glocks with a Dremel tool are on the menu.

Most of my revolvers get a new grip, Hogue round-butt fanboy but notice below I cut the grip down behind the cylinder release. Oversize California Competition Cylinder release. Chamfered chambers for fast reloads with moonclips. Front sight replaced with a fiber-optic insert front sight.

This was the first picture taken after getting the M29, notice it is still wearing the original square butt conversion grips. It has since gotten a round butt grip though I have left the factory cylinder release and red insert front sight on it for the time being.

My wife complains every time I buy a new gun! I can't leave it stock. I always have to do some customizing to it
My new Ruger Bisley was just touched a while ago with lighter trigger spring, lighter hammer spring and a free spinning paw! She says that I can't leave well enough alone.

Not for aesthetics, purely for function. Punisher grip panels and "Smile, wait for flash" engraved around the bore do nothing for me. Machined internals vs. MIM OEM parts do.

Not that I don't appreciate tasteful adornment of others' guns. It's just not something I'd sink money into. Same reason I don't have tattoos.

Depends on the gun.

I don't usually mess with them too much aside from grips. With revolvers, grips are really all I change. With classics like my pre-model 10, nothing gets changed.

For instance, my carry gun only got a set of night sights.

Now there are exceptions...

My uberti SAA has a "runnin' iron" hammer to make it a little nicer to shoot one handed and a buddy traded me his El Patron checkered grips:

My Stainless P226 has Dawson sights, a gray guns flat trigger, stainless steel guide rod, it sports a (laser engraved) P226 Elite 9mm slide. It's been to the Sig custom shop for an action job.
Oddly enough, I actually like the factory grips so I kept them.

I briefly experimented with lighter hammer springs from Gray Guns, but pretty quickly went back to stock weight spring.

Grips and springs on S&W revolvers. I did the Heggis trigger spring flip on my Buckmark. Polished and refinished a Uberti Hombre.
