I'm a bit 1911 fan partly because of the wide array of things that you can customize on the handguns. It seems like you can customize just about anything.

Now, I'm also enamored with the H&K UPSC .45 but I'm curious if there's anything, whatsoever, that can be done to change the asthetics of an H&K?

I'
  • ve seen a few HK models with polished slides.
  • It looks like you could probably add a bit of additional stippling on the grip to remove the HK USP lettering.
  • I'm not sure if it would be possible to do anything with the slide. That would be a huge step if you could. Even glock gets some custom slides made my caspian but there's nothing for HK.

Has anyone ever seen pictures of H&K's that have had any significant custom work done? I'd love to see them.

Here are some P7s that have had some extensive scroll work done. They are about as much custom as you can fit in an H&K I think.

As for the USPs, I've seen some duracoat paint jobs on the slides, some in gray and blue, even a floral pattern and some with some bling:

you might have to scroll down on a couple of the links to see the, er, works of art.;)

Hmm. I am not sold on the gardening gun, but I actually thing the Orange one is pretty cool. Call me silly, but I like the recent trend in making guns colorful and interesting. I have seen some truly horrific examples of what people have done to their guns, but I think a lot of the time if makes them unique and interesting.

If you are not happy with the HK finish, I would send it to Robar for the NP3 finsh.
Otherwise you could get a longer barrel with a threat on it, so that you have a CT and put a suppressor on it.

I would suggest that you find a gunsmith to put a normal magazine release on it!

Other than that, what's to change? I like my HK otherwise.

Some people have front cocking serrations put on their gun. Others have the NP3 done by Robar. One guy over on HKPro turned his gun into a 10mm. It can be done, it is just that not many people customize a gun that is perfect.;)

NP3 would look nice, so would hard chrome. Like Tecumseh said, I have seen front serrations cut into the slide. They look good, but front serrations are as useful as teats on a boar hog for me. IMO the best (i.e. most useful) modifications would be the match trigger kit (get it done by H&K for best results), and some sights that you really like. There's a jet funnel kit too, if you're into that sort of thing. I prefer fairly stock looking pistols, and it's hard to miss that big mag well on the USP series anyway.
You've got a great pistol, enjoy it.

Best.

The HK USPc is perfection! Other then say some Heine Straight 8 night sights there is nothing to be done to the gun. A Milt Sparks Versa Max II and you are set for CC. Get some good training and buy ammo. Practice perfection assures your game day performance......
The guns are more accurate the most shooters are!

I had Teddy Jacobson reliability package done on mine. It really didn't need it but I wanted the trigger lightened and smoothed. So, I figured I'll do the whole thing while it was there. Trigger is now 9 and 4 pounds with short reset. Jeweled the interior parts, polished the breech face to a mirror shine, and polished the feed ramp. I didn't jewel the barrel to keep the stock look. Other than that I don't think there is much else to do except some sort of finish.

Tritium sights? .357 Sig barrel for .40? Sure. A design feature.

But customising an HK? I won't even participate in discussing such a perversion. :what:

USP .45c is perfect just the way it is. I do like night sights

This is like saying "My girlfriend is perfect just the way she is! I do like a little more junk in the trunk, though." :neener:

For the most part, I don't see the point. Plastic receivered guns don't really "do" the whole "pimping" thing too well. You really need to divest yourself of the black plastic to do that, and get a receiver which can take wooden grips, IMO: everything revolves around the pretty grips and/or metal plating.

Aside from that, maybe you could replace that irritating lever safety with a button safety via a good smith? That is, IMO, the biggest shortcoming in the USP design. Refinish the slide and maybe take the 'finger rest' squareness out of the trigger guard. After that, I don't see too many of the changes possible to make to the design which add anything - most paint jobs on plastic receivered guns are, IMO, absolutely hideous.

I like the USP just the way it is, to be honest.

?? What's so bad about it. I think it makes it an easy switch from a 1911...
