Coffee (yes I mean hunting related coffee)

Makes it taste like it’s not as coffee tasting. :) sorry, that’s as “highroad” as I could say it.

I am not enough of a connoisseur of coffee to know the difference between “good” and “bad”.

If it was purely for BA content, I’d likely just give it a splash of everclear to make it a tad hotter.

Not as coffee tasting if a funny way of putting it. Good coffee is not bitter. Usually you have to buy beans and grind your own. A percolator makes it even better.

Drinking coffee is just like reloading. You start small and suddenly you have a cabinet, drawer, and counter just for your different coffees.

So good coffee tastes more like hot chocolate :) I suppose the Irish cream does make it move in that direction.

I am a bit different in that respect than others, my wife too. We have guests that can’t fathom not having any coffee in the house and look at us like we don’t have running water when we tell them we don’t even own a coffee pot. At our farm, regular guests have brought their own equipment and supplies that they leave down there. I do like the smell in the morning...

I really like coffee but for some reason I don't drink it much, I'll get on a coffee kick and make a hold lot and drink it that day. Maybe do that for a few days, but then not drink any for a month.

Mocha flavored coffee beans taste like hot chocolate without the sugar.
My wife's favorite tastes like a peaty Scotch.
Others taste like pecans, etc.
I don't drink soda, so I make up the monotony with tea and coffee.

I was trying to remember the last time I had coffee before I went out to hunt and I think it was around 1998 with a friend that had gotten up, stoked the fire and put on a pot, blue with white specks of porcelain coated steel I assume.

What are the coffee lovers “rigs” here?

What you described is my favorite way of making coffee when I go deer hunting. It makes it super strong without getting bitter.

Started drinking coffee in the Navy...kinda corrupted me. As long as it's black, hot and strong I'm not very particular. My wife jokes about my coffee being so strong that a spoon will stand up in it
I enjoy a cup while in the stand, but it tends to cause me to void my bowels.

Good reason not to drink it then...

I can usually manage a few hours in the stand without it. I drink coffee after I’m inside.

that said, if I were going on a hike hunt, I’d bring a Trangia cook system for heating a bit of water. Small, light weight, leave no trace, perfect.

So which brands of ground coffee do you guys bring with you during hunting trips?

What ever is at home, Maxwell houes, Folgers, or choc full of nuts. I never had good coffee, but the cheap stuff can be very good if made right.
While I've been drinking McCafe lately, which is quite good. Yes it is McDonald's ground coffee. Very smooth and enjoyable.

For some reason I have been drinking many (5 cup) pots of coffee everyday.

One of the best cups of coffee I've ever had was at the Groton ct McDonald's, that's not saying much but for some reason it was great there.

I just made a pot of cowboy coffee, I've been away from home and don't know we're my mother out the percolator.

To be honest, I didn't know that McDonald's coffee was this enjoyable to drink. Of course I have never driunk any fast food coffee before so....

I don't buy grind, whole bean only and grind it before I pour. My process is the next to last post on pg. 1.

I rotate through Black Rifle and Domestique coffee.

If I have to buy store bought I get Caribou or Gevalia.
I keep forgetting about black rifle coffee, other then being nice to support are own how is it.
