That one gun.

Most of the times I've felt like I might have to shoot someone I was carrying an M&P40 BUT I was already carrying it.

A pair... when I’m packing stuff for a cowboy action match, the two Ruger Old Armies that I refinished/antiqued scream very loudly to be taken to the firing line!

When I lived on a farm, it was either the .410 H&R or the bolt action .22 LR for varmints, mostly woodchucks, and Wisconsin skunks. (wouldn't want to be accused of shooting the state animal)
For coyotes on the family farm, it was my Handi-Rifle in .223 or later my first Axis in .223.

Taurus PT99af if it’s unknown noises that are being investigated. If it’s known vermin then it’s generally the single six with 22 mags.

A Remington 34 usually loaded with 22shorts is the rifle I have dispatched more varmints with than anything else.

We don't live on a farm or ranch, but we do live out of town a ways. If "something goes bump in the night" or whatever, I grab my 1911, 45ACP. If there's a varmint or starlings in the garden or current bushes, I grab the H&R Handy Rifle, 17HMR by the back door. If there's a ran-over, but not dead cat out by the road, I grab the Model 63 Smith, .22 from the shelf in the kitchen cupboard. If I'm going to town, I grab the Glock 19, 9mm.
During pheasant season, if I see a rooster land in the weeds out in the pasture, I grab my old Browning Auto-5, 12 gauge and go out after him. In over 40 years, I've killed a grand-total of 1 pheasant in our pasture. I think the darned things see me coming and run off over the hill.

I almost agree. The 66 based revolvers were also great guns. The 689 I had was as good as any other revolver I have ever touched. I would put the 689 as best with pt99 right behind.

At home I grab my Revelation single shot 12ga. I have all kinds of rifles and handguns but it seems my old shotgun with a variety of shells on the stock is just fine. I live way out in the country and the closest deputy may be over twenty miles away but that's alright.

Remington 597 Magnum 22 Mag

For me it's my Rem M7 stainless in .223 with Leupold 3.5-10x40 CDS scope, HS Precision Stock and Timney trigger:



It spends a lot of time in the UTV gun rack, doubles as a light varmint walking rifle and is my "practice" gun for big game hunting. It's 55 grain Nosler BT load is sub MOA and over-all it's a light handy package. I'm thinking about adding a rack on the tractor ROPS for when the yotes come out to follow me mowing.

I built this out of a Savage 24V with damaged barrels. Top barrel I rechambered to .223 and under the forearm is an adaptor to shoot .22 RF. The 20 gauge bottom barrel is set for choke tubes and generally sports a modified. I also have a rifled tube for it. The butt carried a container with some .22 shorts at the moment, and the side cuff has some bird shot and a couple slugs. That needs to be changed to a pouch. Prior to this my divorce left me with a 19 inch barreled 20 gauge Mossberg 500 that took care of my every need for a number of years .

We live in a township just on the fringe between small city life and rural countryside. For the 4 legged creatures outside (mainly coyotes), I kept my Beretta Model 70S handy though I never had to use it. Same for my inside gun, a SIG P229 with a laser/light module on it, for any 2 legged trespassers who might be trying to drop in during non-visiting hours.

I suppose I have more than one for different purposes.
My "anything" rifle is a sporterized (before my conservatorship) M94 Swede Mauser in 6.5x55mm.
My everyday personal carry sidearm is a Lightweight Commander (just 'Commander' when it was made) in .45 ACP.
I have a rather anachronistic devotion to a 2nd Model 44 Hand Ejector.

That fellow running for president said all we needed to do was go blast a shotgun out the window. I don't know about you but I sure wouldn't want to be his neighbor. What a poor excuse of a leader he is.

Usually the coyote barking from the backyard gets met with the Stevens SxS(16).

#4 buckshot for it.

This home built 300 BO pistol it is with me almost all the time when out working at the hunting property. It rides in the UTV or Tractor when working and carried if I am just going for a walk.

This Model 10 heavy barrel is almost always on my belt when out there too.

Both have been used to dispatch quite a few critters that needed dealt with.

I find I carry a 10mm more and more often.

One gun? You've got to be kidding. The tasks at hand that need to be done as well as the game or hunting style for me, is a varied as the guns in my safe. They are all there for a reason. Like tools they all have their place. I don't use a 2# ballpeen for doing trim work or a 26 oz. framing hammer to drive wedges when spitting wood. IMHO, the same goes for guns.
