Has anyone here ever won a gun in a raffle?

I never have and as some mentioned above, I just consider it a donation with the possibility of getting something back.

The guy who sells me tickets to the Friends of the NRA dinners seems to win a lot, I think he must buy a lot of tickets since I am pretty sure they are all legitimate drawings but he seems to win at every dinner.

I have not, many times I have not ... however a co-worker that goes to the same Friends of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited banquets that I do, and both contribute about the same $$$ ... in the last 10 years I think there has only been once or twice he hasn't won a firearm and several times has won multiple firearms!

I guess, I'm just lucky in love ... the fact we've both been happily married for about 25 years just rubs salt in the wounds.

I have never one a gun in a raffle, but know a lot of people who have won them at Ducks Unlimited Functions, many of which are not into guns, but wrote off the donation and than sold the gun and got more money back.

I have run gun raffles with winners for years (Well kind of). When I had my gun shop a lot of guys would come in and tell me how they wanted to buy such and such a gun, but their wife would be up in arms if they did. So I gave them a raffle ticket (I had a bunch printed) and told the guy to go home and when asked, "What did you do today honey" casually say, stopped in a gun shop and bought a raffle ticket .........

Then the guy would wait for a few weeks and call me and tell me at XX:XX I will not be home but my wife would, so when that time came I will call the house, get the wife and say, sorry I missed him, would you let him know that he won the raffle.

Only worked once per person, but I sold a heck of a lot of guns that way.

Every time i went to a "raffel" the club officers end up winning everything. Its just a bogus fund raiser. Save your $.

I have been very lucky. In the last 10 years I have won a .38 derringer and a 1911 Ruger.45. These were at state shoots.

I "salted the mine" by buying 50 tickets and dropping a few in the bucket every 1/2 hour. I came away with a limited edition Ruger 10/22. I found picking a name out of a hat, doesn't get mixed up that much; be the first or the last to buy tickets. On the other hand, ever buy tickets that stretch between your farthest reach? I got 39 inch sleeves and won a nice pheasant hunts. People were begging me to stretch & buy tickets for them. And then there is an in-law that wins all the time, but never tells how much it costs to get a prize.

I won a Remington 887 12 gauge shotgun in a "Friends of the NRA" raffle several years ago. Only raffle I've ever won. Six months later, the shotgun was recalled because of slam fire issues. Had to have a new style bolt installed. Was two months before the firearm was returned. Was not impressed with Remington customer service.

Yes, this summer. A Girsan MC312 12 gauge semi-auto. Cost was $10. Functions and shoots great!

I won a CZ Shadow 2 this summer. I haven't had it out yet. Its a big heavy pistol. Nice sights on it.

Our local club has had an annual picnic the third Saturday in September for the past 18 years, (not this year). The club pays for the catered BBQ dinner and raffle tickets are $8.00 for the prizes. The last couple of years we have grown to 16 firearms given away and an attendance of over 600 members in a 1600+ member club. In 2016 I won a glock 43 and two years later I won a Mossberg 590A1.

My wife worked for a company that every other year would do a “casino night” for adults (alternating with a kid’s Christmas party). At the end of the night, poker chips were swapped for raffle tickets and folks would spread them out in boxes that went with different gifts. I always came home from those parties with a gun, mostly 870’s that at the time were around $200.

Never won any of the more expensive prizes but also improve my odds of a gun by putting my tickets in those boxes and not the other stuff everyone really wanted.

Wow! Congrats! That's one helluva prize! If you enjoy handguns, you're going to love that gun.

Current duck gun is a DU 887 I won at a raffle.

Or, at least my wife did. She's the lucky one, probably has won 6 guns in the last ten years. I won ... 2? No, 3.

LCR, Weatherby 20 gauge and a Glock 23. Not sure I have any of them still.

Most recently my wife won a nice little Maverick 88 20 gauge at RMEF that will be an excellent little gun to get my kids started bird hunting on.

My wife’s family lives in Western NY and they buy tickets for every raffle around. They’ve been pretty lucky and have won several guns and a four wheeler, so I asked them to buy me a few tickets for any raffle and I send them the money.

My ticket hit this past summer and I won a Savage bolt .243 Axis and scope package.

I really didn’t want the hassle of dealing with NY laws to get the gun sent to TX, so I told my BIL to claim the rifle for himself. He’s a dang good guy and could/would use the gun. He kept wanting to send me $ but I told him to buy me a couple tickets in the next raffle and we’d be square.

It was fun getting the call that I’d won.

I won a Savage 64 back in '99. Gun show at the fairgrounds, raffle was supporting some kid needing a new kidney. Didn't really want or need it, so I 'loaned' it to my cousin who really seemed to like it, and haven't bothered asking for it back since.

The gun club I belong to had a board member that won multiple times though at the gun club gun show raffle. Just random chance. There was like 5000 tickets in a barrel and his ticket would pop out somehow. I don't recall a board member winning anything real recently though. The club has a members only gun raffle every month. I have not won that one either.

Me? Never.

My Dad? Yep, back in '62 he won a Marlin 336C in .30-30.

I haven't inherited his luck.

I was at a raffle where the prize was a Remington 710.

Second prize was two 710s.

Dad won an Ithaca 37 on opening day of pheasant season hum 32 or 3 years ago. I win one a last year and had a few to pick from and I picked a baby Browning 1911 380. Something I'd never buy but I like shooting the little guy.

I've been involved with the Friends of NRA almost since inception. My wife and I have won approximately 12 guns over 25+ years. I could have easily bought those same 12 guns at least 10 times over with the money donated. It's a great cause, a good portion goes to support youth shooting programs, range development and education.

A few years back I stopped in a local Gun store and found a H&R 17 HMR for under 180.00 NEW on the shelfI grabbed... on the way out I saw a AMT hardballer listed for 299.00 that I shouldhave bought... the next day I went back and bought it also... I had 5.00 left and saw a raffle for a NEW Kimber TLE RL TFS and bought a ticket... never thought much of it... a couple weel=ks later I am home in bed with a back injury and fell asleep and woke to a couple calls from the gunshop- I had thought they needed some help with a paperwork issue on one of the guns... third call he lefta message that I did not get until after closing... he said he did not really want to let me know this way in a message but I won the kimber Still have it but haven't shot it... if it is as good as My tle II 10mm I will love it! Need ta get a suppressor for it one of these days Two super deals and win the raffle on the kimber- took a lil ain away for sure!
