"That there little pocket .380 is the best thing since sliced bread. You'll *love* it". (referring to an original LCP)

Tiny grip, lousy trigger, sights that may as well not be there.... yeah, it's most practical for a belly gun, along with most other "micro" type guns I've ever dealt with, and most snub .38's.

I have to disagree with your assessment of the LCP.
This target was shot at 10 yards. My first time shooting it. The mag was stiff and hard to load so I only loaded 5.
Some people can shoot the LCP just fine. 8500A766-C77C-4329-97EE-5AA42958F271.jpeg

See I shoot many larger gripped handguns just fine. I think it’s the sights...or something. Idk.
I shoot glocks real well, unfortunately they try to chew my right thumb off.

What ive found tho is going from something with a higher bore line to a glock changes my hand/arm alignment, or i hunch up more....throws me off for s little bit. I dont shoot much rapid fire so dunno what that would do.

I have been told you don't need to clean your glock (or other gun) for a long time since they will run forever. That is sometimes true, but sometimes not. You don't have to clean your gun every time you shoot (depending on the model) but there are things that you might notice that can cause it to rust. If possible before too much time goes by you want to put that invisible protective layer of protectorant/lubricant on it. You also want to make sure you put the lubricant on metal parts of your sling, and accessories like a bipod.

“You will hate those plastic wonder 9’s. They suck. They fail miserably if you under lube them or over live them.”

“Stick with a 1911. It’s the best gun for defense and offense.”

“You can’t go wrong with Pro-Mag magazines. They’re the best!”

“You don’t want a small 9mm. Here, try this Smith J frame 442. Don’t let that short barrel fool you. These things are accurate as all get out.”

“In Bear country you’ll want a 12 gauge pump.”

“The .357 magnum is worthless. You’re gonna need a .44 magnum if you’re serious about a home defense gun.”

“The .223 is not a ‘poodle shooter’. It’s a powerful man stopper.”

“Don’t waste your time on a .308 rifle. You need a .300 Win Mag for serious long range deer hunting.”

“The .45 ACP is a one shot stopper. You can hit a man in the leg and I guarantee the fight will be over...”

“These Remington R51’s are the latest thing. These are trending to be the next CCW guns that everyone will be carrying...” I should have slapped this guy...
The same guy said “Yeah, normally I would buy back any gun that I sell, that’s my guarantee, but those R51’s are a nightmare. I could never resell it.” - That statement lost him my business forever.

I could go on but I feel my blood pressure going up. :scrutiny:

Sad thing is, the R51 was set to be a decent CCW piece, until Remington botched the production. I'd rather a Zastava M70 than a new Remington R51

Honestly that gun is a terrible CCW piece. A single stage trigger and only a grip safety? Stupid design for a carry piece unless you carry with an empty chamber. Then good luck racking the slide with a full magazine. Nearly impossible.

Been told that I need to spend my money on new tools cause I waste too much on shooting, care of my boss. Real hunters don't shoot does. Your not a successful hunter if you shoot a doe. Milsurp Mauser rifles will put a bolt in your cheek.

not advise exactly, but sometimes leaning into suggestion, I wonder about the many people on ALL forums that can state "I shoot a super blackhawk with full power 300 grain loads, and its comfortable", or "12 gauge buck/slugs all day with no pain"... junk with 44mags mostly, but occasionally 454, 460, and so or the others along that line. Like what? We're supposed to believe that that which is legitimately beyond the stress limits of human physiology somehow doesn't apply to internet forum users?
Its fine for those have been around, and brush it off, but what about all those new users who think these people are telling the truth? It feels like the first time I talked to a tuner circle and they all were convinced their street hondas ran 7 second quarters.... they just made it up, and no one called it out, so it must be real?

Seriously? Do you have any experience with the R51 or the “trigger doohickey on Glocks”?
I mean real experience, not something you read or overheard.
Matter of fact, yes. Yes I do. Both real world experience, and common sense.

In the beginning, nearly all the legal advice I received about deadly force and carry laws was bad. This was a long time ago, and I finally ended up getting so much conflicting information that I finally had to go to the local library, find their copy of the TX statutes and read the applicable sections. I was amazed at how much of what I had been told by "experts" was completely out in left field.

That was pretty simple. The law is the law, like it or not, difficult to interpret or not, there's just one official copy of it. General gun advice can be had from a lot of different sources and not having a single authoritative source to refer to made things a little trickier. To solve that problem, I just read everything I could find on the topic for a few years. That was enough to get a feel for what was solid, on target information, what was personal opinion with perhaps some potential merit, and what was total garbage.

A lot of advice may be dated than outright “wrong”.

The Jeff Cooper worship is really weird to me but he was probably right about a lot of things in the time of the fleeing felon rule and a lack of modern pistols/rifles in common use.
