Quick question about a GunBroker purchase

I’ve bought a couple of guns from GB recently and I’ve actually been surprised how quickly they shipped - within a day of the transaction. Even with my FFL requiring 24 hours to process the transfer I’ve had both guns in hand in less than a week. I hope you get some good news soon.
At the end of the day all I'm really asking for is communication just say to me "we're really freaking busy please give us a chance"I've got my big boy pants on i'll understand that

I guess the good news is it's "only" $320. As my dad always said you pay for an education.

the high rating says they are not just yanking you around ... just busy probably

As another poster here has stated, GB will most definitely remove negative feedback against high volume sellers that pay a lot of money to GB for auctions. They would rather lose business from the odd buyer here and there that has a bad experience than risk losing their income from sellers who run a lot of volume and the occasional scam here and there, it seems.

One thing I'm seeing is a lot of what appear to be middle men listing items they don't actually have on premises or in stock depending on a large distributor.

So what happens is you click buy or win and pay for the item and into a black hole it all goes. A number of folks are seeing cancelled orders. It's all in the comments. You'll see a vendor with thousands of feedback comments, but in recent months a lot of bad ratings have shown up, all related to cancelled orders or never shipped and fighting for a refund.

I looked at a few items offered by vendors like that offering hard to find items like KelTecs and Italian replicas that are available no where else and after reading the reviews and checking availability I figured I'd end up in the same boat. Especially when the vendors only display stock photos. If you can contact them, ask for availability. I never heard back from the couple I checked. Individual folks, always.

The bottom line here is that you need to give them a bit more time. No need to panic. Their rating being good, you have both Gun Broker and a credit card company on your side. All sorts of things can happen to delay shipping as well as mess with communication. A family member passes away is just one example. You'll be OK.

I guess I'm just being impatient it's this Amazon world we live in couple of months ago I ordered something on Amazon at 9 at night and I got it at noon the next day unbelievable

HA... I still have some Amazon orders that have not shown up around the TX Ice Storm.

I have pretty much grown accustomed to nothing getting done in a timely manner now-a-days..

This place has over 3,000 transactions on GunBroker so I'm assuming it's not fraud it's either incompetence or they're too cheap to hire enough help they figured things are going to slow down at some point and then they'll be stuck with too much help! I will keep you guys posted on how this turns out
As an example, here's a notification on Armslist: "We are experiencing a high volume of emails at this time, please be patient as we are working through all the requests and will try to get to them in a timely fashion. Most questions can be answered in our FAQ."

This is an industry phenomenon and consumers just need to be patient.

That said, allow me to point out that your expectations are unrealistic. And your criticisms are unreasonable. "Too cheap to hire enough help?" Seriously, dude?

Remind me to never sell you anything.

I buy a lot through eBay. Since the height of the panicdemic, I have noticed that those sellers, too, are having a hard time getting things out, dramatically different than before. I suspect that, in many parts of the country, face-to-face shipping outlets that sellers are used to using are more restricted, or are fewer in numbers. The workforce in the shipping industry is probably still being rebuilt after massive cuts and layoffs.

I've only done two GB purchases, one "before", and one "during." The second one really didn't take that long, and was only complicated by the seller forgetting to enclose his FFL. I can't compare the first because the seller was across the street from where I was when I won, so I just walked over and picked it up.

Hey look at it this way the only delay you need to deal with is the processing and shipping. If you lived where I live the minimum it takes to buy a gun is several weeks and at least 2 visits to police headquarters! Also buying off sites like gunbroker is basically impossible as most FFL’s don’t understand the annoying web of paperwork and registrations necessary and will vary from well...... to flat out refusing.

also ammo becomes an issue because even though it is not illegal to buy ammo online or ship it where I live it is only legal to sell it to someone who has a valid license for a firearm that takes that type of ammo. And no website that I have found is willing to sell to Washington DC.

TL;DR : don’t be sad about the inconvenience you have to deal with be happy about the ones you don’t!

I bought a rifle on-line just few days before Christmas from a private individual, took 18 days for USPS to deliver it to my FFL. The seller provided me with the tracking number so I knew what day he shipped it.

I've been ripped off by sellers on GB so many times -- even by sellers with an A+ rating and hundreds of sales -- that I can't keep track.
....
My success rate on GB is just about 50% while it's 100% on other sites. I go through the "official process" on GB and nothing happens. The sellers have even relisted the same item within hours of me telling GB that it's a rip off. None of the negative feedback that I've left every has appeared on GB!
....
A couple of dealers I know have even found guns that had been stolen from them listed on GB and GB refused to do anything. The most popular current scam is to insist that the buyer pay with an electronic transfer -- they get the money and the buyers get the headache of trying to convince their credit card company that it was a scam. GB bans me and I register under a different name and the game goes on. Right now GB hasn't banned me yet but they blocked me from asking questions because I flat out ask sellers about issues that make me suspicious and if they're scam artists. For some reason GB doesn't allow such "offensive" (their word) questions. ...
How many transactions have you had on GB? If I'd had those kinds of results I'd have sworn off LONG ago.

I have 49 GB transactions as both a buyer and a seller, and never an issue. Perhaps I'm lucky. [knocks on wood]

Interesting. That would seem unethical to me, to remove negative feedback. So, then for every other buyer on gunbroker this would mean the rating means nothing at all and is useless. How do you know they do this? My understanding is sellers will jump through hoops to aviod negative feedback, but if that is not the case, want to know. Have not been on GB actively buying anything for a few years, so - maybe I am out of data with the times.

I personally have never had any issues with any sellers on GB, all positive experiences.

I have bought ammo, and a bayonet off GB, but only one gun. I quit buying ammo because the prices are out of this world, but the rifle I got was a fair deal. It was slow to arrive, but the seller stated it took a while for my money order to get there. Once he sent the tracking number everything went well.

only five. in one other the guy sent me the ammo but did not notify GB so the item still says I owe the seller! no big deal on that one.

You’ve only had 5 transactions but managed to get yourself banned? That’s probably a record!

OP, the GB indicators of the sold, shipped, received, paid, etc... are not automatic, except in the case that the payment is processed through GB, and the feedback. The seller and buyer have to click on the appropriate drop downs in the status areas to change/update those. And, in my case, sometimes it won't let me choose some of the status options.

As to the communication breakdown... yeah, we all expect better from the folks we deal with, but sometimes it's not forthcoming.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I've been ripped off by sellers on GB so many times -- even by sellers with an A+ rating and hundreds of sales -- that I can't keep track. Right now GB hasn't banned me yet but they blocked me from asking questions because I flat out ask sellers about issues that make me suspicious and if they're scam artists. For some reason GB doesn't allow such "offensive" (their word) questions. The only real take-away is to never risk more money than you're willing to loose. For example, right now there's an item that really interests me; I'm pretty certain it's a scam; the guy only has one sale and it appears it's to a friend of his; and he demands either a bank check or electronic payment -- no USPS money order accepted. The item will probably sell for around $1500, which is just a tad more than I'm willing to walk away from right now. The last experience with GB resulted in me lossing almost $500 and the guy is still an A+ seller. Well see what happens. Please keep us posted regarding your situation. Thanks again.

What other sites are you using?

Not all sellers use the Gunbroker order status tracking. I've got a rifle that was won, paid, shipped, received, shot and my feedback submitted, and the order status still is stuck on "pending payment". Don't get too uptight about what the order status says. If you're in doubt, contact the seller via telephone. The order status will eventually scroll off.

Finally got my shipping notice today! 9 days after the day they were paid. Now I'll see what shows up if it's NIB as advertised I guess it ended well.
Now I've got to decide what to do about feedback do I give them a plus and pretend like nothing was wrong do I downgrade them for the slow shipping and very poor communication or just split the difference and leave no feedback at all
