Last Wed. I did not work at the range because of a medical procedure and after returning to work today I found out that there was a horrible mishap on our 25yd range. One of our customers was shooting hand loads in some form of 1911 45acp and blew it up!
From what I was told it was quite the mess. the customer nearly blew a finger off and took a piece of flying slide to the right cheek and lacerated the cheek pretty deeply. Customer also refused medical help and refused an EMT ambulance. Now whether he later took himself to the ER I do not now.
He was able to assist filling out an accident report. From what he told us he had loaded the ammunition and the rounds he was firing contained 8.6gr of CFE. Now I have not looked or done the math but was told by our boss that 8.6gr in a 45acp was a 17% overcharge. Boss also stated upon examination that it looked as though the bullets also suffered push back.
Anyways that's all I know and again I am just thankful no one else was hurt and that I didn't have to witness it!
