Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Spent the early part of the week in the Smokies until we needed to evaluate our condo, because of wildfires near Pigeon Forge. Sounds like they are starting to get the fire contained.

Gatlinburg Trail

If you are looking for a pleasant walk give this trail a try. It is one of the few trails in the Smokies that allows dogs. My wife and I call the trail Happy Dog Trail because of all the K9s we see. Goes between Gatlinburg and Sugarlands Visitor Center.

A few other pictures from our other hikes.

My carry guns for the next several months are my little-little gun (Ruger LCPII) & my little-big gun (Taurus 415 41mag).

Weekends are a good time to visit the old "today I enjoyed the outdoors thread".

I'm back at my Camp Overlook " site. I paused here to swap batteries and put a bigger SD card in my cellular trail camera.

Sunny. Low 60s. Nice
I rarely have visitors here, but someone left some trash.

Hopefully I'll get back here on two or three weeks mushrooming and turkey hunting .
Maybe I'll throw some smoked sausage on the grill and make lunch?

By the way...
I wore my Hellcat to church, so I just brought it with me back here too.
I dropped a spare mag in my pocket too.

Somebody was trying to steal about $25 dollars worth of scrap iron from my bridge site.(old steel culverts). I would have gladly given it to them....but they drug it ¼ mile down my dirt road to a cut in a hill and tried to load it on trailer and failed....now it's laying in my field and partially block the road....
I dislike people...really do. I'm goi g to turn into a hermit.

Good pics.

After evacuating Pigeon Forge we went to the Shenandoah Valley. We have been hiking the Shenandoah NP last few days.

We have talked to a few AT hikers that are heading north. We like to carry extra granola bars or candy for trail magic to share with the AT trekkers.

Had my bear protection with me

We did see a lot of whitetail deer enjoying the roadside grass.

Please note:
The fires in the Pigeon Forge area are being contained! Thanks to the fire fighters!

I also had my 41mag with me while hiking. Posting a thread 380 for bear defense would really start a discussion

It's weird seeing foliage still hasn't turned green yet in Tennessee yet here in Florida we're in full swing

My redbud tree here in North Alabama in my backyard is in full bloom but the redbuds just an hour and half drive north in middle Tennessee where I was Turkey hunting were barely showing color.

Yes TN is starting to leaf out and there are many evergreens including laurel. In VA it still is not leafed out at all in mountains.

I was going to make a trip to DC this week, but it sounds like the cherry blossoms are about done.

I used to live in Florida bro, in Tampa it hits freezing at least once a year
Freezing yea but never snow except those super rare occasions. When I lived in Hernando County as a kid I do remember the year it got cold enough we had flurries at night. I remember walking outside at night and saw single flake fall. Closet I've gotten to it. One year during a winter I should drive or fly north for a weekend. But I wanna see picturesque countryside snow. Not city grey snow

Do it.
