Do you carry while hiking, rock climbing, etc?

Where my buddies and I use to hunt there was always a potential problem with run-ins with a pack of feral dogs. Sometimes 7 or 8 to a pack they usually took off once we got near but you had to be careful as people out that way use to have open dumps for their trash and that always attracted the dogs. Besides our .22s and 20 gauge shotguns I use to carry a small .22 semi-auto or else a .38 Special snubby, like a S&W Model 36.

Do you carry while hiking, rock climbing, etc?

Nope. Never really considered it much. Never an issue and never head of any issue up this way at all. I guess if anything, there's the hiking sticks but otherwise... What we do for hiking is mostly the more aggressive stuff often with hand over hand rock scrambling and rock fields. This being said, I just today sent off an email about a new holster for just such a purpose, well, more for woods use but for next yrs hiking plans it could work too.
