But I have been toying with the idea of ordering a Big Horn Armory 500 S&W lever gun.

I'm beyond that point. More like I want to lose a few and gain a few others.Where there wasn’t a “next gun” on your list? I feel like I might be there. I know several members here are shooters more than collectors. I fall somewhere in the middle between shooter and accumulator. I don’t want guns that I won’t shoot, but there’s always been a “next gun” for me. I’ve got money from selling a few guns lately and the rule between my wife and I has always been that gun money remains gun money, as in, it doesn’t get used to pay the bills and such unless there is a dire emergency. I think I’ve reached a point though where I just want to shoot what I have. I’ve picked up several new rifles in the last year and a half and haven’t really had time or ammo to really get used to any of them yet. Maybe something is wrong with me. I should probably schedule a doctor’s appointment.
'Ever reached a point' Where there wasn’t a “next gun” on your list?
Wait, what?!I thought I had......then Colt had to go and release a new rimfire King Cobra, the bastards!
I thought I had about 5 weeks ago when I talked myself out of replacing my M&Pc 40 with a H&K P2000. Found myself fairly lost since then with nothing in particular to be on the hunt for. Then just last night It dawned on me that I can’t send my son into the woods this fall with a .270 or 30-06. “We” need a .308 I can download for or a 6.5 Creedmore (or one of the other lower recoil Whitetail options). I feel like I’ve found purpose in life again.
More seriously though, nothing wrong with sitting on the sidelines waiting for something to strike your fancy. If that “gun money” is burning a hole in your pocket buy something used to play with while you figure out what the next real need/gap is. While I haven’t practiced this often I hear you can convert them back to cash fairly easily. You gain some knowledge of different guns and learn a lot about what features you like/dislike.
Of course, not knowing you, you may have already been through hundreds of guns in this manner. If so disregard all the above and carry on.
LOL!I gave it a thorough going-over, thought about it hard, and then said to myself "I already have a good .357 and don't really need another".
Of course, I was at the shop to pick up a gun I'd just bought, so...
Wait, what?!
Maybe something is wrong with me.
You think you are done, but you won't get off that easy.
Now you will start buying backup/2nd-string/3rd-string guns.
Or your hobby might take you in a different direction.
You might get into single actions and buy 8-10 of those, for example.
Or get into another caliber and buy 3-4 of those.
You can always buy ammo/accessories.
And you will...
Wait, what?!
They just announced it at the SHOT show-LOL!
Yes, 1st I've heard of this too!
