I'm curious, Why are you considering doing it - what are the expected advantages? Thanks I'm torn on it . Prettiest rifle in the safe
I got a ghillie. But it's shinyYou asked for thoughts, mine is that there is no chance in hell that *I* would camo that gun.
Or pretty much any other gun for that matter, unless perhaps I was going to be dressed in a ghillie suit and going against two-legged upright critters, or some such....
But, if I owned that gun and I really wanted to camo it, I'd camo it.
ity shiny & every time I take it out it gets a new scratch or dingI'm curious, Why are you it's shiny and considering doing it - what are the expected advantages?
That's called " good, honest wear."ity shiny & every time I take it out it gets a new scratch or ding

I think I actually prefer guns with some honest patina of use and wear. (Not abuse.) And if I'm the one who was fortunate enough to have put that wear there, much the better! That's called " good, honest wear."
Yeah the first time I took it out I squatted down to put the call out & it fell off my shoulder & put a small ding in the octagon barrel .I actually prefer guns with some honest patina of use and wear. (Not abuse.) And if I'm the one who was fortunate enough to have put that wear there, much the better!
I have air brushes it would be a cerakote if painted ...& I have done a few rattle can jobs that look pretty decent! But I am more than likely gonna leave her aloneLeave alone. Rattle can jobs never look good (IMO).
Something to ponder onIf you go to a farm store , or feed store or vet supply store , there is something called vet wrap for leg bandages . its clingy and stretchy , but not super adhesive .It comes in various colors , I sometimes wrap a rifle with white for calling coyotes . comes right off without much mess .
Finding a stock for a 1885 is almost impossible. I would love a set off a Winchester 1885 ( same gun by same Japanese Company just different branding) but the stocks are flat not polished like the Browning . Anybody wants to swap let me knowI would leave it as is. If you really want to try changing up the look, try replacing the stock. You can always switch it back.
