Thanks, do you have any recommendations for hikes? We will be in NC until Sunday, then to TN until Friday. While grammatically correct, the TRUE correct spelling is SMOKYS.
You're in my neck of the woods. Beautiful photos. Looks like a great outing.
Definitely a bluebird sky day! Can't beat those 50 degree days for working outside. Glad to hear that you got back to hauling grain in such a short time. I have to say climbing those straight ladders is something that I don't miss. Pre retirement I would need to climb up ontop for a starch silo. But it was never 50. Either felt like 120 or -50.Not like we usually like to enjoy the outdoors, but it was bluebird skies and 50s today.

I had to hire a crane to hoist a 10hp electric motor 150' up the grain leg.
2 hrs with the crane is equal to 5hrs of hoisting and climbing by hand.
Money well spent. We were hauling grain in 2½hrs.
Like most work days here on the farm...I carried my lcp and my Leatherman Wave
Hope Mrs WisBorn gets to feeling better soon. Someone might have four legsLaying low today. Mrs WisBorn wasn't feeling well. Going to grill up some Kabobs.

442 in my pocket incase someone else tries to take my dinner
Staying at Club Lodges at Trillium resort outside of Cashiers NC.Are all those grills yours?
I don't know...if that was my dinner I'd be watching it with a 12 gauge pump, loaded with 3" 00Buck!!! That really looks good.Best wishes for Mrs Wis.
Those kabobs look goo-ooid.
We haven't had those in a while.
The old 442 oughta do the job.
Man, I used to climb on stuff like that on my uncle's farms in Iowa all the time, I'd climb those big tall cement silos. I was fearless. But now I have a pretty strong fear of heights, can't even climb up a tree-stand. !!Not like we usually like to enjoy the outdoors, but it was bluebird skies and 50s today.

Snow goose migration is an awesome sight. The sound of all those geese honking is unbelievable. Looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.A quick trip back to my cellular camera to replace batteries turned into a 3hr atv ride.
The Snows are headed back North by the thousands. As far as you can see.

I rode the crp acres adjacent to the river looking for shed antlers. I wound my way to the local landmark known as "sandrock". There is an old cemetery at the top of the bluff directly above the rock. Local pioneers are buried there.

Then I found some fresh beaver sign.

The sun was getting lower in the west, so I needed to head on back to my shack to change out the batteries on the trailcam when I came across about 25 deer feeding in a cornfield. Everything was cool until a slowed to a stop to use my binos. They didn't like that at all. I had actually counted 25, but when I stopped the field erupted with about 40 or more. Many had been bedded down.View attachment 1136318
This was a group that stopped long enough for me to get a pic. I only saw one buck for sure....he was a nice 8 or 10pt.
I had my sr9c as usual....

They often land around here and rest or feed or whatever they do. They will cover acres with birds...like 40acres. My son and daughter in law had Snows surrounding their house one dsy last week. It was cool for a while....then it was annoying. When a flock lands, other flocks join them, then some leave.....it makes an all-out goose-nado.Snow goose migration is an awesome sight. The sound of all those geese honking is unbelievable. Looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.
Very nice picture. Can you tell us more about what we're looking at? Thanks. Not much nice scenery around here and the only excitement is when a tornado gets away from somebody and tries to kill everyone - like last night. Scenery last night was the inside of a storm shelter.View attachment 1136462 Riding into work today. Had my Benchmade with me
This is the Gatlinburg Bypass, first over look headed southbound toward the GSMNP. I stopped, jumped out and took the pic and went to work.Very nice picture. What do you carry in the elsiepea these days? Remember you saying you weren't too pleased with the jhp load you were running in another thread. Not like we usually like to enjoy the outdoors, but it was bluebird skies and 50s today.
