Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Not like we usually like to enjoy the outdoors, but it was bluebird skies and 50s today.

I had to hire a crane to hoist a 10hp electric motor 150' up the grain leg.
2 hrs with the crane is equal to 5hrs of hoisting and climbing by hand.
Money well spent. We were hauling grain in 2½hrs.
Like most work days here on the farm...I carried my lcp and my Leatherman Wave

Definitely a bluebird sky day! Can't beat those 50 degree days for working outside. Glad to hear that you got back to hauling grain in such a short time. I have to say climbing those straight ladders is something that I don't miss. Pre retirement I would need to climb up ontop for a starch silo. But it was never 50. Either felt like 120 or -50.

Love the Volvo

Man, I used to climb on stuff like that on my uncle's farms in Iowa all the time, I'd climb those big tall cement silos. I was fearless. But now I have a pretty strong fear of heights, can't even climb up a tree-stand. !!

A special thanks to all of you that sent well wishes to Mrs WisBorn. We did a couple of short walks yesterday as she was feeling better. I liked the bridges, but they do need some needed repairs.

Today we did the Smokemount loop trail in the GSMNP. Six miles round trip. Nice hike. It has one of the longest log bridges that I have ever crossed.

My carry gear included 442 in my pocket, XDM 45acp compact in my pack, fixed blade and Leatherman in my pack and SAK in my front pocket.

There is a poll on Multi-Tool or Swiss Army Knife. If you haven't voted yet take a minute to do so.

A quick trip back to my cellular camera to replace batteries turned into a 3hr atv ride.

The Snows are headed back North by the thousands. As far as you can see.

I rode the crp acres adjacent to the river looking for shed antlers. I wound my way to the local landmark known as "sandrock". There is an old cemetery at the top of the bluff directly above the rock. Local pioneers are buried there.

Then I found some fresh beaver sign.

The sun was getting lower in the west, so I needed to head on back to my shack to change out the batteries on the trailcam when I came across about 25 deer feeding in a cornfield. Everything was cool until a slowed to a stop to use my binos. They didn't like that at all. I had actually counted 25, but when I stopped the field erupted with about 40 or more. Many had been bedded down. 20230226_171438.jpg
This was a group that stopped long enough for me to get a pic. I only saw one buck for sure....he was a nice 8 or 10pt.
I had my sr9c as usual....

Once every twenty years or so the hills behind my Orange County California home get a good dose of snow. This one was timed perfectly for a birthday half marathon.

Not the greatest gun picture ever, as it was rushed - there was quite a crowd today. My favorite was the guy who rode his mountain bike up to the snowline, then unstrapped his mountaineering skis, skinned up to the top and then skied back down to his bike!

Snow goose migration is an awesome sight. The sound of all those geese honking is unbelievable. Looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.

They often land around here and rest or feed or whatever they do. They will cover acres with birds...like 40acres. My son and daughter in law had Snows surrounding their house one dsy last week. It was cool for a while....then it was annoying. When a flock lands, other flocks join them, then some leave.....it makes an all-out goose-nado.
Yeah, it's pretty cool. When an eagle flies over.....they're GONE!

The Ancient Of Days sends cold fronts in November and warm fronts in February for them to ride on.

Very nice picture. Can you tell us more about what we're looking at? Thanks. Not much nice scenery around here and the only excitement is when a tornado gets away from somebody and tries to kill everyone - like last night. Scenery last night was the inside of a storm shelter.

This is the Gatlinburg Bypass, first over look headed southbound toward the GSMNP. I stopped, jumped out and took the pic and went to work.

What do you carry in the elsiepea these days? Remember you saying you weren't too pleased with the jhp load you were running in another thread.

Critical defense or xtp in my custom, but looking at the flat point winchesters as a do-all...
