I am considering a purchase...I know of a SS T/C Encore Pro-Hunter w/2 barrels (.223 & 22-250) that is for sale.....I think I can get the whole works for $800....Is it worth it? I don't want to get ripped!

No mounts or scopes....I should mention that it's NIB and the barrels are 28" HBAR

Where can I get a better deal? I'm all ears....Everywhere I've checked online the frame runs +/-$400 or so and the 28" HBAR SS fluted barrels are +/-$300 or so...I'd love to do better!
It is not a bad deal considering that cabelas' sells them for $799 nib with one barrel. $850 for a muzzleloader barrel. This is the going price around here for the prohunter model with a 28" SS barrel. I paid well over $800 for mine in the muzzleloader configuration and have since added 8 more barrels. If your interested a friend of mine is selling his Encore pro-hunter SS .270 barrel 28" with thumbhole stock for $650 plus shipping. It comes with a set of Leupold QR rings and base. has had approx 50 handloads through it and around 60 factory rounds. The base and rings run around $95 on top of the $800 dollar rifle. He had two other barrels but I have already bought them. Also if you do buy and are interested in selling one of the barrels I would pay up to $200 for the 22-250 barrel then the rig would only be $600 for you.

Thanks for the offer jb! I'd probably take you up on that deal if I wasn't looking for a prairie dog rifle. I've hunted p-dogs a lot and always used bolt guns...I've been intrigued by the T/C platform for a while and now seems like the time to try it!
You can't blame me for trying. I don't think you are getting hurt by any means. I really enjoy my Encore obviously I keep buying barrels for it. I would be more excited for you if it were not a .223 and .22-250 the barrels are to close to the same thing. I prefer the .22-250 of the other. Now if it were a .22-250 and .270 combo I would tell you to jump at it. Anyway good luck with the rifle if you decide to get it.

I understand what you mean about being close together in caliber....but there is a method to my madness...#1. I rarely hunt big game with a gun (10 years ago maybe?) #2. .223 ammo is much less expensive than 22-250 ammo so I will buy amounts according to price...I am seriously considering getting back into reloading....#3. That's what the guy has.....lol

One thing we should do is clarify. Is the gun used? If so, that price is very high. In my neck of the woods (northeast Pa) you could get that setup for maybe a hundred dollars cheaper if you shop around. Check with the stores all around you. I go almost an hour out of my way to get to my favorite gun store, but since it saves me anywhere from $100 to $150 every time I do, I consider it worth it.
