I don't need no stinkin' accutrigger, old trigger works great, have it adjusted down to 3 lbs.

Now, I know where from you speak with the accuracy thing. Got mine about 20 years ago in 7mm rem mag. It is VERY picky about bullets, never seen a danged rifle so picky. To date, the only bullets I've found it likes that it will shoot MOA with are a 150 Sierra game king and the 160 Nosler partition. I've gotten groups that looked more like shotgun patterns with some bullets. I tried a LOT of 'em, too, not everything available, but a good dozen different bullets some of which work great in other guns, like the Barnes.

I think that's the barrel, myself. I'm sure the pillar bedding is great on the new ones. I free floated the Savage and got a rounder group out of it, really helped it shoot from a hot barrel. But, even with a new Savage, I'd say be prepared to try a lot of bullets. The bullet is the key. I tried 5 different powders with my 7, didn't really make a lot of difference. It was the bullet that was the fly in the ointment.

My Savage is not my favorite rifle by a long shot. That would go to my little .308 M7 Remington stainless. But, I did get the old beast to shoot MOA with a couple of loads and I've killed 6 deer with it using the Sierra game king load, one a mulie 370 yards across a New Mexico canyon. All just MHO from messing with my own older Savage. YMM and probably will V.

Buy it,

I had a Savage 110 in .243 and it was a fantastic shooter. At 100 yards always under an inch and on occasion 3 shot groups closer to .5".

And this was prior to the Accu trigger.

i love my 10fp, it shoots great with out doing anything to it other than a pillar bedded stock. i hover around .25" at 100 yards with my hand loads and i know im the reason it wont do better. for costing me about 900 dollars for the scope, stock, rings and rifle i dont think you can get more for the amount of money you put down.

I had my neighbor (he's blind in one eye and cant see out of the other):)shoot these lastnight with my Stevens 200. Not too bad for shooting into the sun. I havent spent much time with this gun but it will get better.

Buy. Very nice rifles. I honestly regret my last 700 BDL considering how nice my Savage is. I should have bought a Savage instead.

I have a Savage 116FCSS in 30-06

at 100 yards you can make the holes touch each other.

I'm not the best because I'm 15 and haven't shot enough to get really good...but my uncle that was in the marines can make it touch.I have too, just not all the time but thats me not the rifle.

The only other gun we have that shoots with it is the Tikka 300 Win mag.

The Ruger M77's we have don't shoot with it,or the Winchester model 70 doesn't either.

They make VERY ACCURATE rifles - clean it up,

tighten all the screws, take it to the range. Great shooting rifles, great prices.

If I buy another centerfire bolt rifle, it will be another Savage.

I have found that the Savage rifles are pretty darn accurate right out of the box. I coupled a Redhead Epic scope to my .17HMR bolt-action (not the accu-trigger model) and it is a tack-driver at 100 yards all day. The range that I go to only goes out to 100 yards.

I used to have a Savage .22LR semi-auto that worked really well and was darn accurate. However, I sold it after I bought the bolt-action .17HMR and realized that I liked the bolt-action better for a small caliber.

They are good reliable rifles for the money.

thanks for all the info guys, after looking at all the savage models i cant believe what savage has to offer to the left handed shooters like me, it almost seems that every model they make they offer in a lefty. i have to have one of these rifles. thanks again every body:D

Now for a little something about their customer service. I sent my Model 14 American Classic 22-250 (purchased 8-09) back a few weeks ago because it was fouling too much for me and accuracy was a big concern. They called last week and said it shot within their specs and was ready to be shipped back to me. I suggested they shoot it a few more times and check for accuracy then. Long story short, they called yesterday and said they went ahead and put a new barrel on it. Said it shoots .7 now. I said i can work with that. If they can 3/4" groups with factory ammo, i hope to get better with reloads. Time will tell.

My very first centerfire rifle was a Savage that I purchased many, many years ago. What a piece of junk. I couldn't get it to shoot dinner plate sized groups at 100 yards and I spent a lot of time trying different things. I finally got over my Savage dislike a few years ago after hearing lots of stories about how accurate they were. Even the Stevens 200 (old pre-accu trigger Savage) is very accurate right out of the box. Savages rifles are a little ugly compared to some other makes but they shoot very well now.

Just got my Savage 111FLNS in .30-06 last night I'm pretty excited to take it out this weekend and try it out.
