The Armory in Kearney, MO had a hell of a price on S&B 115 gr 9mm today. $8.99 a box of 50. $8.99!!! I bought two of them but now I'm wondering, why are they so cheap?

Has anyone here shot S&B 9mm before? Observations? Thoughts? Accuracy?

EDIT: Fixed the gr of the ammunition.

155 or 115 grain?

S&B is one of the few easily found ammo brands here, due mainly to the fact that we have a first class CZ importer who also imports the Czech ammunition as well. I´ve been through 4 boxes of the 115 grain FMJ and it feels strong and consistent in my 75 Compact.

I have only used Sellier & Bellot .380 and it is the only ammo I ever had problems with, so I personally won't buy their product again no matter the caliber. I get my 9mm from Wally World, Federal Champion 9mm 115gr for $9.47 a box and never had any issues with it.

I shot quite a bit of it in the 2000-2002 timeframe. If I remember correctly, the bullet has a steel jacket, "washed" with copper. The only squib I have ever had in a pistol round was a S&B 9mm.

I've shot plenty of it in .32ACP, .380ACP and 9mm. I don't recall any problems. The stuff seems a bit hotter than WWB.

great stuff. been using it for almost 20 years. it's cheap because it's made in the Czech repub, so it's not made by overpaid union workers getting $50/hour to tighten a bolt on the assembly line ;)

I went through a half-case of 115gr FMJ a while back and hadn't any problems from the pistols I used it in (G19, Taurus PT-99 and K9).

I also purchased a few boxes of JSP S&B 9mm (I believe it was 124gr but I'm not certain) that worked fine as well.

I mostly used S&B for my .45acp handguns back when it still sold for $8/50. The stuff was excellent for the price. Then the first ammunition drought drove prices to twice that and it pretty much leveled off there. That's when I started loading my own, one of the better decisions I've made.
Bottom line, I think S&B is one of the better brands.

I've read Fiocchi and IMI/Samson offered 158gr FMJ in 9mm, but I suspect you're asking about the 115gr for S&B as Roswell Kid mentioned. 155gr is a weight usually associated with the .40S&W and 10mm.

I have shot a lot of S&B ammo for match shooting quite a few years back. Just as accurate as PMC.

For $8.99/50, I would buy a bunch and buy a reloader with the money I saved! :D

I've put several hundred rounds of S&B through multiple 9mms and haven't had a problem that I can recall. The range safe stuff is a little on the weaker side, but I've found that true of any "range safe" ammo I've tried. But for practice ammo it's great.

I've shot thousands of rounds of S&B without issues. Its a good buy and great ammo.

I've shot S&B extensively for the last ten years, and prefer it to Winchester white box, or Remington UMC.

It is hotter than American ammo.

I bought 1000 rounds about 6 months ago and am almost through it all. At that price I would buy a ton. I have had zero issues.

In my experience all S&B, in multiple calibers, has ran flawless......A+

I agree it feels hotter than the low price Win & Rem stuff. :fire:

I have shot several boxes through my 5906, Stoeger Cougar 9mm, LCP and Bersa Thunder. Never had a problem and is relatively cleaner than a lot of brands. Not much fouling to clean up afterwards.

I've shot 115 gr and 124 gr FMJ 9 mm and 230 gr FMJ 45acp plus some 55 gr fmj 223 rem. All nice and clean, no problems at all.
I now use Geco in 9 mm and Fiocchi in 45.

I am under the impression that European arms function better with european ammo and vice versa though.
The CZ shooters at my club all swear by S&B. They claim CZ are developed and tested with S&B hence, they shoot better.
No scientific proof, just a feeling

S&B 9mm is pretty much all that I use. Never had a probelm. I would buy all that I could at $8.99 a box!

+1 on the S&B 9 mm. Shot about 700 rounds without a single failure. Feeds fantastic in my Sigma (No jokes) and my P-95. But of course almost anything does.

Cases are fantastic to reload. At the $8.99 price that almost as cheap as just buying one fired cases for reloading.

I'm ordering 14 boxes today for a class in the spring.

Great stuff.

Back before 2008 I had shot over a couple of thousand rounds of S&B 9mm and found it to be excellent ammunition. I still have S&B 9mm on hand from then so I can not tell you if the current production ammunition is still of the same quality.
