I think I have distilled it to these three...

Glock 27 (or 26) = perfect combination of size, firepower, caliber, reliability, rugged design

SW 642 j-frame revolver= reliable, proven design, you can carry this 95% of the time. contact shots in a close quarter situations.

LCP= can carry this 100% of the time.

What about you guys?

Those are my top 3 too. I own one of each. Right now I carry the 642 the most.

I do a lot of CC and have something approximating every gun on your list. Instead of the Glock 26/27 I went with an XD subcompact. I have a Taurus 85 for a small .38 (bought because it has a nice looking bright blue titanium finish). I also have the LCP. A lot of people also love the slightly large .380s like the PPK and Bersa, but I didn't see enough reason to get one in that size.

Of my small ccw guns, the Kahr PM9 is easiest to conceal, but lacks the G26 (or G27) capacity. the Smith is easy, simple and fun, but is limited to 5 rounds.

Kahr PM9 in my pocket right now. Very easy to conceal. Nice gun.

With that said, there are a lot of concealable guns out there. It doesn't have to be pocket-sized to be concealable.

gbran, if you wouldn't mind taking a few more pics, I'd like to see some side-by-side comparison shots of your PM9 and G26.

The thin frame of 1911 makes it fairly easy to carry concealled. It barely prints.

For me, I cannot keep a Glock (no matter what frame size) from printing due to the thickness of the frame. To make matters worse the fatigue factor with baby Glocks makes training with them for a full 8 hour day, several days in a row difficult. There is just not enough of them to hold onto, so you tire out faster. If I can't train with it as intensely as I would like, I am a little nervious carrying it. I'm a huge Glock fan, but if I have to hide it on my body in hot weather I prefer a 1911. It offers me more performance wise with regards to how the action works compared to my other non-printing options. Plus the 1911 comes in lots of different sizes and configurations. If I can wear a nice thick coat, I favor a Glock 19 for the increased firepower and speed (no safety, short trigger reset, and easy to master action/trigger).

Unfortunately I don't get to carry as often as I would like. Here in California getting a CCW is not easy. I have a Utah Non-Resident CCW, and I carry when I am traveling in a state in which it is valid (many states recognize it). My state is not one of them. So those of you who carry daily, have more experience than I do.

You said CCW guns , not small little guns only. My pics:

Fullsize: 1911. Only fullsize slim enough to CCW on me. Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, Les Baer, I avoid the regular production 1911's now.

Mid size or compact: Glock G19/23/26. S&W M&P. Maybe a 3.5 or 4" 1911.

Subcompact: Kahr PM9, S&W M&P 340 revolver, Ruger LCR.

Mousegun: Kahr p380

Kahr P380 in my pocket pretty much all the time (Desantis Superfly), plus a G27 IWB when I can (Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC). My girlfriend has a Kahr PM9, which she carries in a Galco belly band.

I used to have a S&W J-frame, but neither of us could shoot it very well, so I sold it.

My personal top three are the;
HK P2000sk
Kahr P9
Seecamp LWS32

All three are high quality, reliable guns that I can shoot very well.

I carry a G30, and I used to be a glock hater, I hated the plastic, the fat bulky square shape, and I hated the constant references in hip hop songs, but I have to tell you that its hard to beat.

I can't find another gun that small, that light, that durable, and with that much capacity in .45 acp. Also for having such a light frame and short barrel, the recoil is incredibly low.

1911 5" Carried 80% of the time.
SA XD SC .40 My "Its to dang hot this summer gun".
Sig P238 Perfect for a quik run to the gas station and dont want to redress to strap on a holster.

I sold my P238 and regret it immensely, I foresee me buying one again.

Those are the exact guns that I thought of when I read the title. I carry a Glock 27 when I can, and I always have my LCP. Don't have the S&W yet, but do have a Taurus 85 snubbie.

For me it is my top carry options depending on dress:

Kimber Compact (commander size)
Kahr PM40
Keltec P3AT

For me the main 3 are,

M&P .40 Compact

XD .40 Sub Compact

Ruger LCP

Occasionally I'll go with the M&P 9mm Compact or the Ruger SP-101 stainless with the 2 1/4" barrel .357 just to change things up.

I'm seriously considering both the Para CCW LDA .45 and the .45 M&P as the next addition to the collection.

Top three carry handguns?? Depends greatly upon who is making up the list.

My list:

1. Kimber UCC II in .45 ACP
2. S&W mod 19 Combat Magnum 2 1/2"
3. Firestar M43
