For you guys that are going to keep all your guns til the day you die, which one will be next to bed when you are 80 or 90?
At 63, I am already experiencing some preliminary wrist problems. I enjoyed big boomers - but saw the writing on the wall and sold my .454 SRH years ago - and can't recall the last time I shot a 'real' .44 Magnum in my 629's. My big bore shooting has been .44 Specials, .45 ACP's, and .45 Colts. I have .357 Magnums that have never seen - except when S&W tested them - 'real' magnums, either. Autumn '08 - I finally added a DA rimfire revolver - a 4" 617 - great 'last' revolver - not so good for defending the homestead - definitely not a CCW, but a super fun, frugal, and easy on the wrist revolver. Others have followed - smaller - maybe CCW with CCI Stingers.
Naw, for one that can do it all - a 2 5/8" PC627 UDR. It can be EDC - just not in the pocket, like my 642. But - 8 rounds of +P 158gr LHPSWC is easily discharged - and on-target at 7-25 yd. Plink with wimpier loads - probably a good choice - lots of reloads here.
Another choice... for the confused days of what to load... the Governor! Yeah, .45 ACP's, .45 Colts, or 2.5" .410 shotgun shells - and all available, at least now, from WallyWorld!
My head hurts... I don't want to play any more. I like my current choices - don't make me choose!!!
