Tune it up?

I just started shooting IDPA. I am using my ol' trusty S&W915. The pistol is great in every aspect but trigger pull. My question is regards to the S&W performance tuning. Will the $175 be well spent?
I have shot the M&P 9, the Glock 19, and Browning high power 9.... All with way nicer trigger pull. I have improved my first DA shot some, but that trigger pull is just as hard as my Ruger GP-100 in Da.
I just have a hard time justifying purchasing a new 9 mm during this economy.

Before you spend $175, spend $15 on a Wolfe reduced power spring kit. That's all I've done to a couple of my 3rd Gen S&W's and it helps a LOT.

I just checked the Wolff website. Will changing the hammer springs, trigger spring, and or the recoil spring affect the reliability of the pistol?

It could in reguards to the hammer and trigger spring. Unless your planning on shooting some real powderpuff loads, I'd stick with the factory rated recoil spring. I you haven't put a new recoil spring in the gun, I always change the recoil spring when I purchase a used semi auto.
I have also taken the mag disconnect plunger out of all my 3rd gen S&W's. It generally helps the trigger pull to some degree.

Tune it up?
