Has anybody used Cagungunworks services on a CZ pistol?

I have a very nice CZ75D compact 9mm that has 500 or so rounds through it. The double action trigger reach is too long for me, the single action trigger is perfect. It's a decocker style pistol. My question is, has anyone used the CGW service where they replace the trigger with their reach reduction kit. It is supposed to smooth out both DA/SA trigger pulls and reduce the DA reach by ~5mm. They claim it reduces the pull in DA because of the enhanced mechanical advantage the reduced reach creates.

They also do different packages which tune pistols for both carry and competition. Anyone with experience with their work?

The 75D is a decocker gun. Is the trigger too long from the decocked position?

  • If you're dry-firing by repeatedly pulling the trigger with a decocker model, that's not the trigger pull you'd experience when shooting with live ammo. When you dry fire using the trigger only, the always hammer drops all the way down. That method will help break in the DA trigger pull a bit, but it's not the way the decocker models work.

  • When firing with ammo the first shot starts from the half-cock notch, and the slide cocks the hammer for SA following shots. When you finish (and the slide locks back) you drop the slide and decock the weapon.

  • You can't really simulate the actual decocker model trigger pull unless you manually cock the hammer and decock for each dry fire trigger pull. Decockers start from the half-cock notch and all of the following shots are single action (SA).
If trigger the reach is still too long from when starting from the decocked position (i.e., the half-cock notch), talk with David Milam at Cajun Gun Works. One of his reach reduction kits might be a good option. And if you're handy at all, you might be able to do it yourself. But talk with or email him before you order.

(I've detail stripped non-decocker CZs and they're no issue, but I hear that the decocker models are a bit more difficult to work on.)

A local gunsmith could probably install the arts for you, and it would likely be less expensive than shipping the gun to David and having him do it. His service prices are very reasonable, but shipping AIR (by FedEx or UPS) is very costly -- and the only way around that is to get an FFL to mail it for you. They have to be paid, too.

How much does Cajun charge for it? The 2016 CZ 75 Compact should be available also with the Omega trigger.

Omegas work wonders out of the box in the P07 and P09. Maybe you could wait a couple of months and try the 75 Compact Omega model? It will allow easy change of decocker/safety much like the polymer models.

My CZ P-09 was worked on by Cajun Gun Works, and the trigger is smooth and sweet. That's it stunt doubling in this photo. if you can do it, send it to David at CGW, because you won't be disappointed.

A CZ-75 Compact with the Omega trigger would be less attractive to me than one of the alloy-framed CZ-75 with user-changeable decocker or safety.

The steel-framed Compact is noticeably heavier than the alloy-framed version. I've had several Compacts, and they just weren't that much smaller or that much lighter than the full-size gun to satisfy me. An alloy frame would make it more attractive and practical. A P-01 with switchable fire control systems would have the alloy frame. I think I might like the PCR with that option even better.

Well, I meant alloy frame Compact with Omega trigger. I am not sure whether the alloy frame compact without the rail will carry PCR name - after all Police of the Czech Republic won't be changing their PCRs for Omega trigger versions. (That probably doesn't matter anyways since the Czech police is using mostly the version with rail nowadays).

I understand.

A CZ lower-case "c" compact can be either steel or alloy. The capital "C" Compact is an official CZ model name; a lower-case "c" describes a gun size -- and at present only compacts are available in alloy.

(Never have figured out why CZ hasn't offered a full-sized gun in alloy -- SIG does it, as does Beretta...)

For a number of years I begged for an alloy-framed compact with a safety (allowing c&L starts) -- now that they've finally done it, it's too late - I'll just stick with my P-07. I really like the P-07, and may eventually pick up a P-09, as well. (I'll just have to find someone who wants to trade for something I have.)

I have a CZ PCR that I installed all the Cajun parts into. Yes it makes a big difference. Great guys to deal with!!
