Picked up my M&P Shield today and headed straight to the range. Coolest thing is this gun was just announced at the NRA show yesterday.

It's of comparable size to the LC9/PF9 but feels much better in my hands than either and has a very good M&P-ish trigger. Only put 96 rounds through it but no issues and very accurate shooter for me.

Also picked up a "new" M&P 45 compact on Wednesday, it has a Apex Duty kit in it and was broken from the factory 3 years ago. I fixed it and got it for a really good deal. This thing drives tacks and shoots point of aim for me, i'm thinking this will eventually become my carry gun.

s&w 9mm shield

what is the going price on these, if i may ask, thanks.

Not a fan, but I will give S&W credit for getting these into the hands of dealers at launch. Seems like anyone that wanted one could have gotten one with ease and at a decent price.

Something Keltec... Kimber... Beretta... Ruger... could learn from.

Mine will be here sometime next week, I was in the under 400 price range.

And to the OP, yeah, I'd say that was a good week too. The 45c is on my list, although with the G30SF, it's not as high on the list as it could be. The year is so young, and yet so many new models released by several manufacturers already!

Looking at the specs and comparing them to the out of production CS9 they are nearly spot on identical with the Shield being slightly lighter than the CS9. I'm still not a fan of M&P's articulating trigger and I wish it was hammer fired instead of striker but am glad to see it introduced and available as an alternative to the baby Glock. I'm looking forward to comparing the Shield head to head or hand to hand so to speak against the recently unveiled Sig 938. Oh, that's right, you can't find a 938.....:neener:

Congrats to S&W.

They are going to do VERY WELL with this model.

If only Glock could figure out how to bring a single stack 9mm into the market, then we'd be all set.

Glock HAS to be working on it. I cant imagine they would pass up this market entirely. There is just too much money in it.

I havr to admit, i like the looks of the Shield and am looking forward to fondling one. I hate the trigger on the M&P, but i think i hate the trigger on my PF9 more.

Do me a favor and quickly draw that LC9.

As stated, only pocketable 9 is R9
Never said I could quickly draw it, just showing it is pocket-able. Trust me I don't carry a gun that large in my pocket.

The only 9mm gun that I currently own that I consider a pocket gun in jeans is my Diamondback 9mm. When summer shows up I could very easily pocket carry the Shield in my shorts pockets since they are much larger than jean pockets.

ETA: I also sell a handful of Glock 19 pocket holsters each year. Just because you can't pocket carry something doesn't mean someone else can't or won't.

Exactly. I have a coupla pairs of baggy cheap Walmart cargo pants. Had my wife remove the right front pockets and replaced them with a heavier material that also made them deeper by about three inches. I can easily carry my 5'' Colt government without printing and drawing is as easy as getting the car keys out. Works better than most concealable holsters. They're not a fashion statement and they don't work when I need to dress up, but for 90% of the time they work well.
