Anyone know how much money the NFA generates per year on average (our $200 tax)?
The number of applications is steadily increasing which is making revenue increase as well, with the 105,373 applications received that is roughly $21,074,600.00 in revenue. Yes it is a small drop in the bucket for our government, but that is money coming in. I think small arms reviews Jan issue sad the Suppressor industry has grown 35 percent in the past 3 years alone, how many other industries can say that?
The NRA's position on anything Title II (Class 3) sways with the breeze, right now they are pushing hard for anything NFA related, mainly because the industry as a whole is exploding, those are potential new members, but it has not been that long ago they were against anything NFA because it was not considered sporting, not that long ago (1994) they said the evil black rifles that the average American has fallen in love with was not considered sporting either, but Remington puts some camouflage on a AR and its all ooh's and ahhh's.
If you want somebody to fight for your NFA rights look to
http://www.nfatca.org/foundation.htm or
http://americansilencerassociation.com/ these two organizations specialize in NFA causes, the ASA is even meeting with the ATF this week.
Is this an attempt to actually change the law or is this just a "I want a machine gun" attempt? The Hughes amendment does not prevent you from owning a machine gun, it only prevents you from owning a machine gun made in the year you want.
