hey.. just out of curiosity.. this is something that would be cool to know the information on.. for reloading, but in various military rifles, what are the cartrdige overall lengths available in their magazines?..

curious about AR15 mags, AK47/74 magazines, sig 552 mags, galil mags, etc... people with these rifles could just caliber the interior length

Magazines vary too. But Mil-spec ammo IE M193 and M855 are designed to fit any AR magazine. IE look up the spec, you will know the max overall length of either.

Russaian mil spec stuff is probably done similarly though I forget the nomenclature for standard 7.62x39 ball and 5.45x39 ball.

MAX length:
5.56 NATO is 2.260".
7.62 NATO is 2.820".
7.62x39 is 2.200".

Military ammo is loaded slightly shorter by a few thousandths to insure free operation in any magazine.
For instance GI 5.56 I have measured averages 2.247".

Magazines are built very slightly longer then max cartridge length for the same reason.

EDITED: To correct mistake in 7,62 NATO OAL I posted.

I think you hit a 0 instead of an 8 there. I can dream about putting 7.62 nato in an AR-15 action though;)
