.45 ACP - 1911 or Glock?

The USP-45.

The 1911 for me. Have shot a few of Gaston's offerings, seriously tried to like them, but the Glocks just did not "sit well" in my hands. Never felt like I had a good comfortable grip on the Glock.

This type thread has been done so many times that my head is about to explode...

By the way, the video link didn't work for me. Wanted to watch it before I made an in depth response.

These threads are like asking if you should have steak or a hamburger for dinner......they will both fill you up, but one is much better.

Really just have to handle both and see what feels better. To me I love my 1911 and can't stand my clock 22 the only reason I keep it is its reliability. Although my 1911 in the last 3000rds has not had one issue what so ever. My Glock has never had one issue period. I do have less than 3k rds though the glock though. Glocks are extremely reliable out the box, and need minimum upkeep, the 1911's need a bit more upkeep but fire a lot better and shoot much straighter to me. So it really comes down to preference.

Me I would go 1911.

I have more than one of both, if you are going to spend the same amount of money despite what gun you pick get the glock.

I really tried to buy a 1911 the other day. I just couldn't do it. I also didn't buy another Glock since I already have two and what's the point of another of the same gun in a different caliber. I'm sure I'll get a Glock 21 one of these days though.

I bought a wheel gun instead.

While iconic the 1911 just doesn't feel right. The grip angle is all wrong and it just doesn't fit my hand right. I don't like the safety and the trigger is not all it's cracked up to be. No nice "click" for the reset. The single action is also something I'm really not interested in. Very low capacity is an issue for me as well as the weight.
Take down and maintenance are more difficult and need to be done more often than the Glock. I'm sure there's a special place in Hell for those that diss the 1911 but that's a risk I'm gonna have to take.

I really, really tried to buy a 1911. I had the money in my pocket and a 1911 in my hand. I don't care how iconic and full of history it is. I just don't like it. Alas I'm sure i'll break down and buy one to put in the safe some day. May as well be a $1000 piece of man jewelry.
