Picked up S&W 586 (M) 4 inch, nickel, about three days ago-fired first time this morning--smoothest handgun I have ever fired--much better shot than I am. Goes well with my 640-1 and the 19-4 I have on law-a-way at local Cabela's.

Just joined THR--lots of great discussion and information.

Congrats on the 586. They are superb wheel guns.

I bet you can't wait to pick up the 19-4. Two fine choices.

Welcome to THR.

Thanks for responses--I have gotten used to shooting 1911s over the years-still have couple-- Colt LWC and Ofcs--but this 586 is a fine weapon--looking forward to getting the 19-4. 586 nickel seems harder to clean--but worth it.

Hello friends and neighbors // Nice snag/save, I like the 586 but have never even seen one with a nickle finish, outstanding!
Here you go content, a 6" nickel 586. She looks a lot prettier in person, nickel guns are hard to take good pictures of. I have a theory about nickel guns, you never really get rid of fingerprints on them, you just move the 'prints around the gun with the rag :(

bikemutt, This is my first nickel handgun--what do you use to clean yours? Seems like the nickel is harder to clean than either the blue or the stainless. Nice looking 586 you have.

Never owned a 586, but my first handgun was a 6" 686 and what an awesome handgun. Had to sell it during a divorce. S&W recently re-introduced the 586, but since I am partial to stainless steel, a 4" 686 is on my bucket list!

I was able to purchase a 4" nickel 586 recently, the delivery has taken longer than expected. Such is life. I'll post some pics when it lands. Not sure what it is about nickel guns I find irresistable, I'm sure there's a cure for my illness :)
