I acquired a Gen 4 G27 a few months back and just bought a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel from Glockmeister. The site does say that some modification may occasionally be required. From what I've read on various Internet sources, almost everyone experiences a true drop in experience with them. I take delivery today and of course it does not quite fit. So the question becomes, do I attempt to file the thing myself to make it fit, spend money at a smith to do it, send it back in exchange for one that hopefully does fit, or send it back and try another brand. One of the reasons I got the G27 instead of a G26 in the first place was the ability to shoot different calibers using different barrels. I like the 40 fine, I just want the ability to fire 9mm, and eventually 357sig with the same gun.

I would definitely use a smith. Furthermore, I'd only use a smith that actually has experience in fitting barrels to Glock slides. The fitting of an oversized barrel to a slide is a very precise filing operation where a lack of experience can cause a lot of grief. A good smith will do it right.

I would say send it back. The cost of having a good smith fit it will far outweigh any shipping charges.
Chances are, "fitting" only requires a few strokes of a file on the barrel hood. I wouldn't waste time and money on a gunsmith for such a simple job. When I bought a .400 Cor-Bon barrel for my 70 Series GC, the barrel hood was for a "standard" Government Model, and I had to take a few thousandths off of each side of the barrel hood. Pretty simple operation, and the barrel fits and functions just fine.

I'd send it all to a Glock-certified armorer and get it fitted right. Your life may depend on it, so don't cut corners.

I currently have five Lone Wolf barrels and they all dropped right; feeding them has been 100% with both cast and jacketed bullets. I owned and sold an LW 40-9 conversion for my G27 which also worked flawlessly. Having bought a G26 I didn't have a need for it any longer.
As is the usual case, YMMV but my experience with Lone Wolf has been very favorable.

I don't know if was being exceedingly dainty or what but i pulled it out just now and though the tolerances seem tighter, it fits. Cycled a few magazines worth of 9mm snap caps through the new barrel and magazine and they worked fine, even with the stock extractor although I did spring for a 9mm specific one just in case. Put the stock 40 barrel back on and no problem with the 40 snap caps either. Looks like we're in business. Range trip later this week. Got me a NY-1 trigger spring too just for grins so we'll have to try that out. $2 part so no big deal if i don't like it. Thanks to all those with advice.
