That's funny. I had the exact same experience. I bought an Ultra Carry II a few years back (sold it before I shot it though) and the trigger was extremely nice. Better than the Baer Custom Carry I bought a few years back and the Springfield Range Officer I bought recently. Really nice triggers considering they are series 80.
Yeah you know, the Kimber name is not that well thought of my the 1911 purists out there and their opinions largely kept me away. I found out that Kimber does some interesting things with the spring setup that differs from 1911 convention. At least the Kimber I shot had a very strong hammer spring and a very stout recoil spring. But it was very smooth in recoil even with factory loads. Much smoother than my 1911's which have typical spring setups. The Kimbers have their weaknesses, and I think they are probably a bit overpriced (capitalizing on the name and reputation) and their "custom shop" is well, the janitor's closet... But yeah, really nice trigger for Series 80.
