There are a lot of people who feel real strong against nuclear power.
It's a free country, they are entitled to their opinon, and we will not be debating the pro's and con's of that issue.
However, it is very important to understand the tactics and the weapons that were used in this country to decimate the nuclear power industry. Not being able to prove that nuclear power was unsafe, or to get it legislated out of existence, the enemies of nuclear power applied the most powerful weapon of all -- economics. They were able to make nuclear power too expensive to be a viable form of energy production in this country. It takes so long to build a plant, that by the time it is online, the accrued interest on the amount financed during construction and approval makes the power from that plant too expensive to be competitive.
The same tactics will be used to fight against the exercise of Second Amendment rights. Make the buying, selling, owning and shooting of guns very expensive and there will be a lot less of it.
There are several avenues of attack.
1) Tax each bullet and each gun.
2) Use the courts to make the liability associated with selling guns so high that selling will be discouraged. This will also raise the cost of buying guns.
3) Make the ownership of guns very expensive. NYC used to make handgun owners renew their ownership permits every two years at a very high price.
4) Make it very expensive to shoot. This can be done by using environmental and OSHA laws against gun ranges.
