Just out of curiosity, what are your top 3 9mm pistols? Whether it be a CCW, home defense, or range gun.

For range work, the CZ 75 SP-01 Competition from Matt Mink or Angus Hobdell, in a single stack 1911 carry gun the 9mm Guardian from Dan Wesson, in a polymer "hi-cap" carry gun a Walther PPQ (or Glock 19 if you like the ergos), and in a small carry package the S&W Shield with a good trigger job.

1) HK P7M8 - just a great gun - totally love it.
2) Rohrbaugh R9 for CCW - drops in my front pocket and I hardly notice it.
3) Glock 17L for a range gun. There are competition guns out there that are better, but the 17L has been a fun range gun for me, the long sight radius, forward weigh distribution makes for hardly any recoil and I shoot it accurately.

1) Browning Hi-Power
2) SIG P229R
3) CZ P01

Other favorite 9mm.s include: Kahr PM9, Ruger SR9c, Steyr M9, Manurhin P1, Glock 17, and Colt Commander.

1) Sig P6 - I like it so much I've got 4 of them.
2) Glock 19
3) Ruger SR9

I would love to get an HK P7.

There are so many great 9mm pistols out there that it's hard for me to narrow it down to just three (which may explain why I own five.) But if pressed...

1) Beretta M9. Yeah, it's the world's biggest 9mm (or at least it feels that way.) Not many folks are going to conceal it, but it's a fine service pistol, a good shooter and as soldier-proof as a pistol ever was. I enjoy taking mine to the range and I'd trust it in any situation.

2) CZ 75B. Hand, meet glove. When a gun fits you this well and recoils so gently, it's almost impossible not to shoot it well. In matte stainless, it's almost a work of art. Sometimes I think it's too pretty to shoot. Sometimes.

3) Browning Hi Power. If the FAL was the right arm of the free world, the Hi Power was the sidearm of the free world. In world of DA/SA triggers, striker-fired guns, and polymer frames, it can seem outmoded, even quaint, but all that goes away when you lay the sights on target. It's a timeless classic.

Others in my collection: the SIG P6 represents the traditional DA/SA SIG 9mm pistols. All are quality weapons. My P6 was made the same year I was, but it hasn't aged a bit. The H&K USP9 is (along with its big brother the USP45) my concession to the polymer age. It just shoots so well that I can't ignore it.

But if I were going to carry a 9mm, it would probably be one I don't currently own - the H&K P30, the only polymer gun I've ever found with finger grooves that fit me. Light, reasonably compact, accurate, and reliable, it would be my first choice for a CCW 9mm.

If you count only the ones we own, then my list would be Colt Defender, 5" Springfield tactical, and a 3" Springfield 9mmSC. If you mean what we want, then I would have to leave my Colt Defender, STI in 5" 9mm Lawman, and a CZ75-SP-01. But I have a couple of .45's that I want first

I have a full length 1911 built on an Essex frame and slide with a Kart barrel that is wonderful. For the CCW's, it is a SIG 938. Amazingly accurate for such a small gun.

I used to have a HK P7 m8 that was a wonderful shooter although it had a different manual of arms. Wonderfully accurate and, like the 2 mentioned above, 100% reliable.

Used to have a Beretta 92 that never failed me either. Not exceptionally accurate, however, and I considered it quite large and overbuilt for a 9mm. Nice guns however.

Another 9mm that I used to have that was quite a shooter for a small gun was a Kahr MK9. The absolute BEST DA trigger I've ever shot. Only 'ding' against it is that it was quite heavy for its size. Ate anything I ever fed it.

Browning Hi-Power
S&W 3913
S&W Shield

I've been building my 'collection' for years and really like all three of these guns but I'd trade all three of them for a Dan Wesson ECO or Guardian.

My favorites?

1. CZ75B. Known for accuracy, durability, and reliability. The CZ75B has a good reputation because they're solid guns that work.

2. Springfield XDM. The XDM has comfortable ergonomics, is simple to maintain, has a high capacity, and has proven itself accurate enough for competition use. The XDM's lifetime warranty is also appealing.

3. Taurus PT92. This gun is often called the best gun that Taurus makes. It has a few upgraded features from the Beretta that it is based on, most noteable of which is probably the frame mounted safety. Whatever you think about Taurus, the consensus is generally that they got this one right. The other benefit of the Taurus over the Beretta is that the former has a lifetime warranty and the latter only has a 3 year (I believe) warranty.
