My dad has a lifetime membership and is actually considering canceling it for the same reason that I, a responsible gun owner, will never join that irrational group of vociferous right-wingnuts.
I agree Tim. How many of those 'other' groups do you hear about sticking up for us? None! Better think about it people before bashing the NRA too much.
The JPFO is a really good group but I believe they are somewhat small and limited in resources.
It seems to me the NRA is far less compromising now then they started becoming in the past. I think everyone is. After Sandy Hook when the talk was of banning AR15's I heard A LOT of things from A LOT of different people (in person) and didn't hear talk of compromise but of resistance, planning and taking things as far as they needed to go to ensure our Liberty. Just like in CT now where there has been mass civil disobedience, I think the Civil Liberties movement has reached a new level and pushing back hard against ANY more infringements. The NRA at 5 million members strong is one of the best lines of defense.
