Same here. I am supposed to teach my hippy brother in law to shoot but without .22... He is pretty liberal but also an old punker so he isn't a complete pansy, hahaha. He wants to work his way up to a home D gun.

That colt is a good suggestion. If I was you I'd buy the rifle with some flip up iron sights for now and wait until you get to your unit to find out what sight you are going to be issued before buying one. Then you can get the same thing on your "practice" carbine. Of course most support MOS'...
Pro 2A wine?
Wait about six months and I will whip you up some "Locked and MerLoaded".
But, the wine I make is middling at best. Better stick to the experts, Californian, French, German or whatever.

A quick semi related question: All else being equal, does .22 ammo "keep" as well as centerfire?
