    So is...???

Around Iowa I've always heard it called hoppy's. Good question on the original intent though.

    Understanding Max vs Accurate Load

someone compared it to driving, and I can add to that... in the terms of sweet-spots or nodes in your barrel. Let's just say that your tires are unbalanced and you are drive on a vibrating road (that goes up and down). The road would simulate the barrel of your gun and the car would simulate...

    Why not more digital camo

I haven't read the entire thread, but the digital camo now is a desert camo - it's more tan. There is a forest digital camo that contains darker greens and a few blacks and browns. It's much more suitable for American woods.

Going deer hunting for the first time

tips: if possible, stay downwind of the deer, but not by moving. They sense movement VERY well and spook easily; always make SLOW movements and be patient. If they have their tails up and wagging, sometimes they are on edge and ready to take off. If the deer is moving too fast to shoot, say...

How do you work a load from scratch?

Not in my experience! Many old military bullets don't have data for them. If they're not published, my use for them would only be for plinking rounds that run much slower than anything published around that range just to be safe. You have to work up loads SLOWLY with an acceptable powder (this...

    Which Shotgun Should I buy?

around 5,000 handloaded rounds through my 20 ga. youth Mossberg 500 and no signs of giving up at all. Handloads seem to kick more for me while still being safe. The 500 action is good to go for you. There's no way that you'll wear it out IMO!

    IMI rimfire?

looks like a 10/22 action that's actually machined by MRI. I don't know much about graphite barrels, but at only 4.25lbs, I wouldn't call it too overbuilt. and $665... ouch for my budget.

Single stage press bad for pistol ammo reloads?

IMO, the little lee c press is the best for pistol--you can load it from any direction because it's a C frame, and it's definitely strong enough for pistol. It's smooth and it gives you a much better feel than larger presses. And it's only $24!

    Chronograph

F1 Chrony. Simple and it folds in half for storage. Works great plus it's cheap.

    Chamfering with Boatails

ugh... My LEE chamfer tool has only 2 cutting edges. Quite a workout of the wrists. Time for me to upgrade. What brand has 6 cutters on it rc?

    Powders for 308 tracer

VARGET or IMR 4895 It lights 100% of mine. I have the 142gr. M62's from Poly Gun Bag that cost $80 for 500. I've fired about 100 so far. They're sold out at the moment: http://polygunbag.com/bullets.html

tumbling loaded rifle bullets without damaging bullets

I believe vibratory tumblers would be easier on the tips because they move around VERY slowly, especially when they're full. No guarantees though; I've never tumbled loaded lead points.

Hornady .308 150 gr SP accuracy disappointing...

sounds like they aren't agreeing with your barrel. Have you tried working up loads? For me, I test ALL of the powder rates from min to max charge at a certain OAL, then I take the most accurate group and write down the powder weight of that group. After that, I use that powder weight and test...

    FMJ vs Plated?

My opinion: Plated can be just as accurate as FMJ or TMJ with the correct recipe. However, the plated must be loaded slower and treated like lead bullets from my knowledge. OH! and you can't crimp them nearly as much because they will deform slightly (the plating can be pushed up and the nose...
