    Uberti SAA

Well, I think the brass looks pretty cool. I guess that's why I picked one up Friday.

    Why So Many Triggers?

It's like so many other things--individual preference. I tend not to notice the "style" of the triggers on my guns as much as the feel of them when I'm shooting. If there were a "best" trigger, I would imagine that all manufacturers would flock to it like cats to tuna.

Handling of Colt and Schofield replicas...

I have shot a rented Beretta Stampede (Uberti) one-handed and I like the way it pointed. At 7 yards, I was pretty decent with it. The silhouette target had some definite "Owies!" in or near the center. Do Schofield replicas point as well? I have never held one--just drooled on a case at a...

    I'm Thinking Single-Action

I shot a rental Stampede Saturday. Awesome thing. Nice satisfying boom accompanied by a rolling recoil. I shot it 2 handed at 50 feet and 1 handed at 21 feet. Accurate--far more so than I am at my age--and the trigger is about as light as one could want. If your finger thinks about the trigger...

    Wandering through gun shops....

Smoked elk... It was a cold sandwich, not a hot one. Struck me as rather tough and stringy. It wasn't bad, but I think next time I'll try either wild boar or ostrich. (We were in Ireland and found a restaurant that offered kangaroo meat--one of the owners was Australian! Next time we may try...

    Break-open revolvers?

Saw one of those Uberti break-opens at a Cabela's last Friday. I like it. I want it. I'm not sure I can afford it....

Thanks, FKB. And thanks for the quick reply.

    Wandering through gun shops....

My Lovely Bride and I went to three gun shops today. At the first one, where she was dropping off a gun for repair, I wandered back among the lever action rifles and saw a Henry Big Boy in .45 Colt. It was hefty, but pointed very well. The action seemed quite smooth. I liked it. A lot. We...

    New to Wheelguns

I had previously owned a revolver (Ruger), but, for some reason, I just wasn't ready for a wheelgun then. Sold it to a friend. A couple months back I rented a Beretta Stampede (.45 Colt) from my local range. My wife was shooting next to me and said that the first thing she heard was a "Boom"...

    New to Wheelguns

I have a 686 6" (not for carry, obviously) which I love. I was at a trade show at a local gun shop/range and I got to try the 686. My wife was watching as I pulled back the hammer and put a bullet less than an inch from the center at 7 yards. My wife later told me she said, out loud, "Oh sh*t...

Cimarron Arms Colt SAA replica opinions...

A couple months back, I rented a Beretta replica SAA at a local range. After my first "Wa-ho!" when I realized that a .45 Colt does wake you up with its recoil, I began to enjoy myself--probably more than was good for me. So, I looked at the Cimarron Arms Catalog and I see that their various...

    Bought an... interesting Mauser today

Cosmo, don't have Cyrillic fonts at work, but the Russian word for year is, in fact, spelled in the Russian equivalent of GOD, but pronounced more like "goat." The Russian word for God is spelled, as that is, BOG, but prounounced more like we would pronounce the nonesense word "boke."

    Ruger No. !-B .223

Not at all. $600 for rifle with scope. Barrel appears sharp. A little wear on the scope--I think perhaps from ejected brass.

    Ruger No. !-B .223

With a Redfield Five Star 6-18x scope. Bought it on Saturday, shot it on Sunday. I haven't yet taken it to a place where it can be exercised properly, but my impression is that this will prove to be fun. I don't have a real need for it, but I fell in love with it as it calmly rested on the wall...
