    Restoring/Upgrading an old pistol

I'd leave it as-is. It looks like it has Jap proof marks, so it's probably an officer's sidearm purchase. Have it appraised. You may be very surprised. The holster may be original to it as well. Purchased with the gun at an officers supply store.. Don't refinish it. It's a piece of history...

Chance to buy a Smith and Wesson M&P 45

That was a great deal-the M&P45 (and 45c) is the best M&P that Smith makes. I just sold my 2009 M&P45 because of the crappy trigger (it's Mass. Compliant, has a 12 Lb trigger). I had purchased a 2010 model with newer style sites and an Apex trigger job, so I figured the old one had to go. It was...

Used Glock 26 Gen. 2.5 any good?

G26 gen 2.5s go for up to $700 in Massachusetts. Sell it there and pick up a brand new one, gen4 with NS.

    Sig 2340

I'm curious, how do you know it's a MSP trade in? Is it marked in any way? Thanks.

One handgun and one long gun for self defense and reliabilty.

G19 (or G17, both will do or a G26 for hideability) with plenty of spare mags and my Bushmaster M4 clone. I'd go for an AK in place of the M4.

    Norinco 1911A1 bushing problem

I just got a new (to me) Norinco and had trouble taking it down. The former owner put an ultra tight bushing in-I removed it with a small hammer and piece of plastic. I had a bushing floating around that kinda fits, just abit tight. I've seen "drop-in" bushings from Ed Brown. Are they the way to...

    Best S&W service grip choice?

If it's a K-frame, go with Pachmayer Grippers, if it's a J-frame, go with the Pachmayer Compacs. Wood grips by S&W look great, but after firing a few rounds, you'll know why most people switch to rubber.

Lt. Kojak Makes The Revolver Cool Again !!!

Ruger SPNYs (SP101s in NYPD form) were off-duty/back up guns in the early 90s. They could be carried as primary guns in plainclothes. Great gun. Also 158 Gr Nyclad HPs were issued, but Gold Dot .38s are now used.

    S&W triggers

The S&W Model 49 was made at the request of the Mass. State Police who wanted a steel version of the Model 38. The Model 38 may have been a USSS request, but it may have been S&W's answer to Colt D frames with hammer shrouds. The Model 640 is S&Ws best J frame, hands down. With Pachmayer Compacs...

    Ordering the Ruger -- questions

Half shrouded means the underlug only goes halfway down the barrel. Shrouded means the underlug goes to the end of the barrel. I'd go shrouded, but that's only me-I like the full shrouded look. I had a GP100 .357 shrouded in stainless-it was a great gun. Why blued? Stainless is a bit more...

hollywood weirdness? or do i need to go back and do more research?

A few years ago, a vet (B24 pilot) died and 2 guns he carried in WW2 got turned in-a .32 Femeru (Hungarian gun) and a .30 cal Luger with the barrel cut down to 2 inches. I'd say .30 Lugers were around in WW2.
