Went to Wal-Mart and got lucky! The Sporting Goods gal got lazy and didn't put her .22's out Friday morning and In the afternoon I overheard a 3 box sale and grabbed 3 550 ct boxes@ $27 ea! Jeese they only send W/M 6 boxes for a week but at least they're sending a few Remingtons to the stores.
What a shame to get excited over measly rimfires eh?

Good score!

I haven't had much trouble finding 22lr for the past year or so, but it's usually around 10 cents a round, and I would rather pay less than that.

Plenty of 22LR, shorts and longs too. Mounds of the stuff on the tables at the gun show Saturday. And it will all stay there too. Prices running from $.09 to $.14 cents a round for bulk pack econo 22LR and more for the 'Premium' stuff.

Went to Cabelas in Hartford CT yesterday to pick up a new rifle, a Cooper 22-250 AI, I'd ordered 6 months ago. They had piles of 22lr. Bricks of Match ammo, bricks of Winchester and Remington. The limit was 1200 rounds per customer.

I purchased one brick just to put away and picked up a couple hundred rounds of 22-250; there were sales on dozens of different brands and caliber. I even managed to find a pound of tight group. It's the first time I've seen several different types of handgun powder to chose from.

I think we're finally turning the corner and things are getting back to where they should be. We're not going to see 22LR at 5-6 cents again but we're getting close to it.

I purchased 3 boxes of CCI "Quiet" 22LR at Walmart's the other day, although Walmart still doesn't have .22LR listed in their online inventory.

Nothing at Walmart around here but bass pro and gander both had at least a couple of options (not counting high end target stuff that runs $20/50) for $.06 - $.10 per round. I'd say it's getting better, but awful slowly. Good news for me is that reloading 9mm and 38 is only $.12per shot so I'm not nearly as interested in 22lr.

Academy in Dallas had a table full of 22 LR last week. Several varieties but I didn't check price or limits because I wasn't in the market for 22.

I have only scored two CCI mini mags at my walmart in four years. I haven't seen a 550 pack on the shelf in six. I guess it depends on what part of the country you are in.

Nothing at my local Walmart (well, except for one lonely box of Winchester SuperX .22WMR a few days ago). All of the LGSs I've been in recently have had either a moderate or better stock of something. It may not be what I'm looking for, but they all seem to have some manner of .22LR now. Everything is 10¢/round or higher, though. Gander Mtn is hit or miss.

.
No .22 in CO but there seems to be plenty of weed.

Here in Los Angeles County Turner's Outdoor has 500 ct bulk boxes of Remington Thunderbolt for $34.99 (.07 per rd). I just brought a box home and added it to the stash. It will be perfect for use in my Browning 1911-22; the 85%-sized miniature 1911 Gov't complete with the scaled-down crappy sights. Yeehaw.

I walked by the sporting good section in Walmart Saturday morning and asked the manager "22lr?'. "I have two boxes" was the answer. I got 'em both. This is the first 22lr I have found in this store in about three years.

When it comes to ease of finding .22, I actually miss living in CT. That and having a Cabelas near by is the only reason :(

I have one of those, too.
The Browning 1922-22 sights have to be the worst feature of any handgun I have ever held in my hands.

Yep, plenty of .22lr here in the Metromess too! But I can reload and shoot .38 spl and lead bullet .357 for less than I would have to pay for .22lr. As far as I am concerned, it will stay on the shelf until they come to their senses on price.

I am sure that it doesn't cost more than 3 times as much to produce now as it did 4-5 years ago, and I refuse to pay the prices that they are asking.

My rimfire handguns all whimper when I start loading up to go to the range, but until rimfire ammo comes down in price, I will shoot centerfire and do it cheaper. Plus I have the fun of reloading!

Let's see.

I don't own a .22 but when I go to any establishment that carries ammo I check. A newer gun store had a whole bunch of it for like $10-12 for a box of 50. I don't remember the brand.

Dicks didn't technically have any. They did have, for $25, a Remington cleaning kit with remoil and some other stuff and the prize in the feral box was 50 rounds of Thunderbolt. Sales guy said people were buying the kit for the ammo and he only has a few left so I should get a few. yeah right buddy...

Walmart had zero, but had everything else at some good prices.

Just got a flyer from Gander mountain and for the low low price of $16.99 you can get 50 pieces of eley ammo. Which is actually a pretty good product but the price seems stupidly high.

Saw tons of Winchester 500 round boxes for $35 at a gun shop today. Must have been 40 boxes stacked. Pity they were not Remington Golden bullets (my Glock shoots 'em.)

And a bunch of Remington Thunderbolt stuff to. Also $35 for 500.

Yep, the flood gates are open here in Texas.

Wal Mart here never has .22. I can get it at the LGSs, but it usually is at a higher than usual price.

I was in Walmart, Dicks, and Gander Mountain today in Myrtle Beach, SC....nothing except for a few boxes of higher priced match ammo at Gander.

I can almost always find some manner of .22LR in most of the smaller gun shops around me. I just don't like paying $50 for a brick of Armscor or Blazer, or $150 for a bucket of Remington. My biggest problem is my wife's P22 only really consistently likes Federal AutoMatch. So, I took the plunge this week and went to AmmoSeek. I found a place in Norman OK who had plenty at 8¢/round, and ordered two more boxes. Shipping was painful ($27.66), but she now has enough to last her quite a few months at the rate she shoots it.

There really is a lot of ammo out there ... if you're willing to pay the shipping.

Montgomery AL Academy had plenty earlier this week. I din't check prices and it was, of course, all behind the counter. I'm sure they had a limit but didn't ask as I was just browsing the handguns.
