LOL, how dare I bad-mouth wal-mart!

However, given the responses here it's apparent people don't realize that
a barrel manufacturer will know an "ok" barrel from a better barrel without
actually assembling and shooting it.....certainly there's no way to tell
one that's straighter from the other or has tighter rifling without shooting
some groups through it....

Hey!! You didn't see me in thier "cheering" section!! My only comment was on how Legally STUPID it would be for them to do so. As big a cash cow as they are..a real sharp lawyer could rip some REAL bucks here. All he'd need is some PROOF!!! So, how much money did YOU get when you sued?!?!?! :D

And yes..there are several ways to check for quality of rifling and gauge a barrel for trueness etc....

OK---back to the original poster.

The current(there were others in the '90's) Walmart Special has gone through some changes recently.

The original ones had a silver clear coat receiver with "rifle" stamped on the the side----and a silver trigger group.

The more recent ones have a painted silver receiver---with neither "rifle" or "carbine" stamped on the side----and a black trigger group.

The 22'' stainless rifle barrels are all for Walmart---as it is a Walmart exclusive. Accurate or not.
