So I have a thing for matching pistols to the long Gibbs that I have. I recently acquired a magnum research 22wmr and want a double action revolver to go with it. Stainless steel with a 3 or 4 inch barrel would be ideal. I've got a s&w 34 with a 3 inch barrel that I love and would like this one to be a similar size. Budget is up to about 600 and I'm willing to buy new or used. Most of the search results that I've gotten for a 22 wmr revolver turn up a bunch of single action. What makes and models should I be looking for? Thanks!

Here's what you seek, S&W 651 on top and 650 on bottom. Both very hard to find and expensive when you do, but they are out there!!!

Won't win any popularity contests with a S&W crowd, but the Taurus Tracker's are a fine alternative in today's world.

I was able to locate a Dan Wesson 722M a few years ago, complete with the box, origional paperwork, and the sales receipt from the first purchase of the gun when it was new. A real unicorn.

Just a suggestion, he doesn't have to buy one.
My suggestion is a blued, single-action auto-pistol chambered in 9mm.

If that suggestion doesn't work for the OP, I recommend a cordless drill, one with the 20v replaceable battery packs. Those are really great.

And just to show that I'm really digging deep here, if neither of those is good, how about a nice pet dog. Everyone loves dogs, right?

Hey, it's just a suggestion...

Had a Taurus 941, couldn't shoot more than 16 rds. before the cylinder would lock up.

Sent it back to Taurus, came back the same way.

Took a $100.00 loss on the gun and traded it for a Ruger MK III and haven't looked back since.

No more Taurus for me.

I've done a lot of smithing on revolvers, kinda been my specialty as a repair guy. There are quirks with a lot of Taurus models, but I'd own them (and do), and I'd trust my life to them (and I do). I prefer a Smith or Ruger, but Taurus does have models others don't, and I don't hesitate to buy those in all steel revolvers, at least. The 941 isn't the grade as the 991 Tracker line.

I own a couple Charters, and have worked on lots of them; I wouldn't buy one over a Taurus.

If I were looking for a DA .22WMR revolver I would try to find a used (cosmetically challenged is okay as long as the rest of the gun checks out alright), S&W Model 48. Once I got it I would send it off to Ron Mahovsky at Metalife for hard chrome plating. An extremely durable finish that is tough as nails and looks like stainless steel.

i have a older charter arms .22 in wmr that has a 6" barrel and looks like a slimmer, lighter S&W K .22 that shoots lights out with CCI maxi-mags. that cost me 150.00 like new at a flea market. eastbank.

My Taurus Tracker is actually quite good and it came with both 22lr and 22magnum cylinders. The DA trigger is a little stiff, but it is reliable and accurate.
