long unscratched itch for a "j-frame" size 22WMR rimfire DA revolver
NOT a snubby, preferably not DAO (although could live with that), and prefer 3" or 4" barrel
(but NOT a ~2" snubby)
don't care if "airweight" or all steel weight, non-factor
#1 critical criteria = good DA trigger
a good single action trigger doesn't really count for much, might just as well buy a single action revolver for that
shooting DA is all about the DA trigger
#1 criteria means the Taurus 941 is a non-starter, a real shame (otherwise excellent "vision" of what I would like)
Example minimum acceptable DA trigger would be a S&W 650 (3") or S&W 651 (4") in 22WMR, "kit guns", but would prefer a tad better trigger
I say that because I have the older S&W model 63 kit gun 4" barrel in 22LR, hence know what that feels like
also know what k-frame triggers are (ideal for me) because I own eight of those, my basic std of comparison for DA triggers
the j-frame kit gun triggers are quite a lot stiffer(but not terrible), very characteristic of S&W J vs K rimfires
oddly enough, my j-frame snubbie 38sp S&W model 60 has significantly better DA trigger than the j-frame kit guns
The newer model S&W PD351 would probably be a winner for me with a tad more barrel, but apparently 'tis not to be
Charter Arms, I hear some not so great things about them, but don't really know (the Charter "name" changes hands so often)
so... any suggestions ?
Any feedback on trigger of model X,Y,Z vs. other make/model would be greatly appreciated !
am I going to have to cough up ~$500 for another S&W kit gun, or just keep on waiting ??
I know triggers smooth up with use, but they ALL smooth up with use, and if they start out life already better, well...
PS
no advice required re: the too feeble 22 WMR rimfire and/or the loud/fireball 22WMR, thanks
yes, been shooting guns for half a century now
yes, own various other calibers up through 357 (including S&W 48 and Automag II and Hi-Standard Double 9 w/ both cylinders, as 22WMR examples)
thanks
