Well I had my new to me HP to the range, had some magazine issues but other than that, nice gun.

Got it home, cleaned it up, came apart no problem. Time to reassemble and.......the slide will not go on easily.

It seems like the barrel won't catch and slip into the frame. I've owned a few HPs, have never had this issue before although this is the newest model I've had, made in '16.

I checked that the guide rod was in the correct way about 15 times, it's something else, thinking trigger or disconnect, but hard to say. The slide might come back if I use a lot of force, but that's not normal either, so I'm planning on taking it to my local smith tomorrow. If anyone has some advice, prior experience with this issue, please feel free to respond. I'm kinda stumped.

The slide by itself slides right on, no issue.

As for the lifter, it seems to be in the correct position, and when I install a magazine, it moves properly.

I tried putting just the barrel into the frame, and it hops in easily into place.

I forgot to mention the recoil spring has a little bend in it, not completely straight, but I don't think that's the issue.

Well I took it out to my smith this morning, he looked it over, happened to have a similar newer HP for sale, swapped slides and the other slide went right on no problem. Looked it over, and found a decent burr on the barrel of mine. Quick file job and it's fine again. He found a roll pin that had worked its way out a bit, but that wasn't the main issue. I'll have to watch it to see if it happens again, but glad it was an easy fix.
