I'm getting ready to do some hunting load development for several rifles & these powders are on my list . I've never used any of these & was hoping that someone could tell me about them further . IE compressed load tolerant ? use a mag primer ? temp sensitive ? gets squirrely ? large spreads & deviations ? Listed below :
Vihtavouri N-165 , N-170 , N-560 & N-570
Norma URP
IMR 4955 & 7828
Ramshot Hunter , Big Game & Magnum
Hodgon H1000 & Superformance
Reloader 17 , 23 , 25 & 26
These are all in top 5 of producing best velocities , load density for calibers / bullets used according to all the published data I could find . I'm just not familar with them & before I invest time / money am trying to weed out the unsuitable .

The only one on your list I have used is H1000. It is accurate and was compressed in every one of my loads.
The amount of case capacity is huge on powder choice. What are you shooting?

I have used lots of IMR 7828 in the .243 Winchester, the .25/06, the .270 Winchester, the .264 Winchester Mag, the 270 WSM and the 7mm Rem mag.... I have very good results with it ...

I have used RL 17 in several cartridges also ... Very useful with lighter bullets in the .243 Winchester and .25/06 ....

The only one I have used from your list is RL 17. I tried it when working up loads in 7.5 x 55. It is made in Switzerland and reportedly similar to the powder used in GP11 ammunition. My testing revealed that IMR 4350 produced a little better accuracy so I went with it.

However, I have heard and read that RL17 generates a very flat pressure curve that is unique and can, in certain applications, give increased velocity without going over allowable pressure. I've never found a reason to scratch that itch in anything else that I load.

You may want to look at the Hodgdon's Extreme Powders, or IMR Induron powder lines. These are more stable over a broader range of temperature. I've use RL-17 and have had good luck with it. It is temp sensitive though, so depending on your environment it may or may not work for you.

I have Reloder 17, 19 (not on your list I know), 23, 25, and 26. Was loading them for 6.5x284 and 17 and 19 for 243 Win.

RL19 works so well in my gf's 243 that I bought a 5 pounder so I'll always have the same lot for that gun.

23 and 25 were giving me single digit StDevs in the 6.5, but pressure signs came up fast in the RL25.

I've used Superformace,in 30-60 .270 25-06 as well as 7mm-08 and only the max loads will be compressed but it still fills the case pretty completely. I've found in the "-06" Family of cartridges, magnum primers produce more more consistent velocities. But in the "308" Family standard primers are fine

Loading for a newly rebarreled 30-06 & a new 6.5X55 . Looked at the top 5 powders for bullet weights I'm going to shoot . I've used all the usual suspects in the past like the 4350's & 4831's , just about all the older IMR stuff , Reloader 19 & 22 & the Vihtavouri 160 . The newer stuff shows improvements in velocity , load density , temp sensitivity & decoppering . The Ramshot powders have been of interest for awhile . You've given me some good info thanks .

H4895 is my favorite rifle powder. Love it in 30-06. Works well from 223 to 30-30 up to 30-06 and even 45-70. On the fast side of mid range burn rate, gives it a broad application on case sizes and bullet weights. It’s just too fast for magnum applications.

Back when I loaded lots of rifle calibers. I only needed. H110, H4895 and RL22 to do everything. From shooting prarie dogs to a Sasquatch.

H4350 is my go-to 30-06 powder for 150-180 gr bullets. I've used Ramshot Hunter and IMR4350 in the past with good results. A marginal improvement in speed might be there with some other powders, but the accuracy is too good for me to try anything else. I can get another 25 fps or so, but I get the best accuracy with 150's @ 3000 fps, 165's at 2880 fps and 180's @ 2800 fps.

Shot this at 425 yards last week with my 30-06 and 165 gr Accubonds. Group is just over 2"

I've never used it in 30-06, but RL17 is supposed to be good too. I'd think that most 30-06 powders should do well with 6.5X55, I know they are also the best options for my 6.5 Creedmoor.

The RL19,and RL22 seem to be better options if loading 200 gr bullets or heavier.
