Finally took the plunge and ordered a Ruger 9mm takedown carbine for my bugout bag. I'm curious what you think I should top it with? Obviously not a long shot type rifle for sure, but the application could take several directions.

Your thoughts?

I am very tempted by the Leupold Carbine Optic (LCO), it doesn't seem right though to have an optic on a rifle that is more expensive than the rifle itself.

There are many correct solutions and fewer wrong ones. If it were mine I’d have a Fullfield II 2-7x35 in QD rings.

A PCC seems like the "right" platform for a dot sight. I realize that many use red dots on ARs and that is okay but I like a scope on a gun with long range capabilities. A dot that doesn't subtend too big an area works really well for the practical ranges of a pistol round in a carbine.....and it is fast.

I run a trs-25 on my hipoint. Ive also put a 1-4x20 on it for a while. Id probably opt for scope in anqd mount as cdb1 suggested. If you do go for a electronic sght for a gun in a bugout bag, make sure you have plenty of spare batteries.

If the rugers as accurate as its supposed to be, useable range will be as far as the round has energy to do the job.

I’d really like to get my hands on one so congratulations are in order! I guess my “bugout” answer would be just irons then spray and pray with some of those long Glock magazines but the part of me that wants one says RDS with QD as mentioned by others is a great option.

I should have bought 4 or 5 TRS-25s on Black Friday when I found them for $43 but, as is often the case, I was short-sighted. At the current $52 with free shipping you could always buy 2 and still not feel bad.

I wish Gun.deals had a tab just for optics. The scopes and stuff are under "Accessories" but I have to wade through a lot of stuff before I see a scope.

I see the TRS-25s going for 25 bucks on Amazon but I think they're either factory seconds or Chinese knock-offs.

Ya know....i made a joke that maybe living in the state of California caused birth defects, and cancer....to someone who moved here from California.
Thought i was about to get stabbed with her iphone...
then i made fun of her iphone and now she hates me...so sad

Anyway, i dont think youd need a riser on the Ruger pcp, but for application where you did (ar) inwould suggest getting one of the utg risers for 10 bucks or so and the standard trs25. The utg risers are tooless removal so you can pull them and go straight to irons.....so a short one might be worthwhile on the pcp.
Heres the high there are others available.https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003...AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=utg+riser

There is a tab.

After you click on the "accessories" tab, you'll see there are new tabs/hyperlinks in the same place. It will say "sights & optics" or something similar.

Or it could be your browser. But give it a try

Thanks man !

I just always looked past those links, I never noticed they had optics organized under one of them.

If I could afford to put optics on my rifles that cost more than the rifles I would. As it is my optics cost around the same or a little less than the rifle. Even my Marlin Model 60 scope cost about the same as the rifle did.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

I put a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on mine. No need for a riser.

Was just going to say that. Really the quality is quite good, it's a smaller size red dot optic with a good track record, and allows good engagement on past the 9mm effective range of approx. 200 meters. OP you can't go wrong with this option.

Try $60.00.

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. Now I just need to wait longer to get my rifle..

I installed a Weaver 1X3 on my 9MM carbine.

It has no batteries, that for me always seem to be dead at the most inconvenient moments. It is extremely fast at CQB distances with sufficient magnification for longer range precision work. The optics are clear and gathers light well for the price point. I have trained side by side with folks using ACOGS and EOTECHs. I had no problem holding my own with this simple reliable scope. YMMV.

I'd go with the TRS-25 or a Primary Arms Micro Red Dot. If you foot the extra for the "Advanced" version of the Primary Arms, you get 50,000 hour battery life, so you can leave it on all the time. A Ruger PCC is on my list, and if/when I get one that's the route I want to take.
