8 year old daughter’s first deer, 7 point!

just wanted to share my proud papa moment with you guys.

She took this seven point at 40 yards using her 300 blackout with a 110g hornady GMX bullet.

Daddy sure is proud and I think she may be a little excited herself.

Ol dad got a video of the deer coming in and her getting the shot too.

Thank you guys, she’s dying to tell her friends at school tomorrow.

It will probably be one of the smallest mounts stuffed this year but I’ll be the proudest cat walking in to get it.

We got busted by a couple does Saturday evening so she told me she needed more camo for the Sunday hunt. So face paint it was, she was determined. She got the “buck fever” from seeing the does come up on us, one to the right that we didn’t even see there spotted us turning her to get the shot.

Funny part about the Saturday hunt, I called one of the does back twice after they spooked, but she was still skeptical and was blowing and stomping. I was behind my girl as we were watching her come back in and when she would blow, Hal would giggle, then I would get tickled at her and the deer spooked off again. This happened twice. Was a good time regardless.

Dropped the cape off for mounting today. Let the taxidermist see the video and he obviously saw how proud I was so he moved her to the front of the line to get it back to her before Christmas!

Mighty fine shot placement as well.

Congratulations to both of you. I can well remember the first deer my Daughter got. She was 9 years old. 33 years old now and we went hunting just last weekend. Fun to recount old hunting memories as we waited. Cherished time spent between Father and Daughter for sure.

We have been practicing for a while. She started the summer with a bolt action savage axis II in 223, but gained an interest in the AR platform so of course dad built her a 300 blk for just the occasion.




Her target at 50 yards with a Romeo 5x red dot. Kid can shoot, that’s for sure.

Wouldn’t ya know she took a liking to the flat face timney targa trigger, so she had to have one of those too.
