We are going to visit my in-laws in new Braunfels next week.
I would love to throw a rifle in and spend a day trying to get some pork. Most places have a two or three day minimum.

There are hogs in TX, I have a new rifle, and I'm not much of a golfer.Don't care much for your in-laws, huh?

While it's possible to find hogs out during daylight this time of year, most of the action is after dark. In an area with much hunting pressure the hogs are almost certainly going to be nocturnal.

Yes i hunted hogs near Eagle Pass in '14.
Of the seven we brought home, five were taken at night. Mine was at midnight.

Nothing I can specifically "recommend", but I've seen the hog hunting adds on Craigslist for years. There are plenty of ads...give them a call and see if they can meet your needs.

Understand. Having someone provide a first hand referral is definitely better than cold calling and hoping. Unfortunately, I haven't tried any of the local hog hunt services, or know anyone that has, so can't offer up any personal experience. I do wish you the best of luck. There's nothing quite like hog meat on the smoker!! Have fun!!

Independence Ranch in Waelder. East on 10 then down on 97. Very basic. No spa. Lots and lots of hogs. I have hunted there three times and enjoyed it, but very basic.

I don't live in that part of the state so I can't recommend anyone. I wouldn't use Craiglist though, too many scams. Again, I strongly recommend the Texas Hunting Forum.

It is the right time of the year for them to act differently for whatever reason so their normal patterns might not work.
The last two we got were during the middle of the day when we were out to setup for the evening hunt.
They were gone for two weeks but are back again.
I haven’t been hog hunting that far south but there are a few places you can go get you an axis deer or other exotic this time of year around Kerrville/Junction.

There's a ranch just down the road from me near Columbus that had a booth at one of the Wildlife Management Asso. meetings I attended. I'd thought about running over there, about a 15 minute drive, but I've got hogs right here for free. It's cheap, but free is cheaper. I just have to wait until they're coming around. Got a BIG one showing up now, but I'm hoping he'll find his way into my trap. It's been cold and wet and I'm a wuss.

I have already talked to them. They have openings daily.
I confirmed my zero today on the little ranch rifle.
The farm boss said shots could be out to 100yds but 35yds were more likely.

I was at Texas WildWood Hog Hunts last weekend (http://www.texaswildwoodhoghunts.com/).
My 2 brothers and I got 4 hogs.. Not sure if its within your driving range.
