I have 5 pounds of "STM" brand 0.047" x 0.255" stainless steel pins, which happen to be the perfect size to stick in the necks of cases fired in my rifle's chamber. I mean they jam in the neck so that they won't shake out and I have to yank them out with tweezers. It seems 0.255" pins are the most popular size. I see media with shapes other than pins, and mixed-shape media which probably have .255" pins, also diagonal-cut pins, but I wonder if anyone has found an alternative to .255" pins that works very well and won't jam in primer pockets either?

I should note that the pins are not precision cut, so while they are nominally 0.255", they vary by as much as a hundredth which ensures there's a few pins in the batch just the right length to jam when they find a matching case.

I use the stainless chips from from Sleeping Giant Brass. Happy to not have pins stuck in cases anymore.

I wish someone made chips that were just chips, and not a mix of chips, filings, shavings, slivers, etc.

The chips are the byproduct of making nails, hence all the small stuff. I've found a couple of complete nails in mine when I purchased it.

Takes a few runs to get rid of the oil on the chips, it you leave them in the tumbler w water like the pins, they will rust and turn the caps on the FART cloudy and rusty. I tried them for a short while and went back to the pins.
Wasnthappy with the chips at all.
